BRONZE MEDAL FOR EMILY IN BRITISH WOMEN'S FINAL

A&T's Women's World Champion, Emily Burgess, took the bronze medal in a thrilling British Women's Final at a blustery Leicester this afternoon. Emily won three races, but incurred a point deduction for a starting infringement in heat 12. This proved to be costly, as Emily finished one point behind the new champion, Lily Parr, of Ipswich. Three riders tied for second place, on 17 points. Sheffield's Lacey Ackroyd won the run off to take the silver medal, with Emily second for the bronze medal and Leicester's Lucy Whitehead just missing out on a podium place after finishing third in the run off.

Earlier in the day, 15 year old Frank White put in a terrific performance in the British Junior Final for u-18 riders. Frank won three races to score 16 points and tie for third place. In the run off, Poole's Jamie Randall took the win from the favourable inside gate, so Frank finished in 4th place overall. Wednesfield's Corey Burt took the title, finishing ahead of Gt Blakenham's Luca Woodhouse

Well done to both Emily and Frank on two great performances, once again bringing great credit whist wearing the A&T jerseys in British Championship Finals.

FRANK AND EMILY TO LINE UP IN MONDAY'S FINALS

Emily Burgess progressed from her Qualifier at Wednesfield today, to take her place in Monday's British Women's Final at Leicester, 2 pm start. Defending champion Emily is going for a record breaking fourth British Women's title.

Frank White secured his place in tomorrow's British Junior Final, when just 16 riders remained in the competition, rendering no need for the scheduled pre-Qualifier. Monday's Junior Final starts at 10 am. Frank scored a creditable 10 points in his Open Semi-final match at Wednesfield today, but was eliminated.

Good luck to both Frank and Emily in Monday's finals from everyone at Astley & Tyldesley.

BRONZE MEDAL FOR FRANK WHITE

Many congratulations to Astley & Tyldesley's Frank White on taking 3rd place in today's British u-16 Open Individual Final at Wednesfield. Frank scored 18 points from his five races. Poole's Jamie Randall beat Sheffield's Oliver Banyard in a run off to take the title, after both had scored 19 points.

If you are keen on riding bikes, or simply want to try out something different, come along to our weekly bike club sessions. We hold them every Tuesday evening (weather permitting) from the beginning of February to the end of October.

We are a friendly club, who welcome newcomers. Don't worry if you don't have your own bike, we have a stock of bikes and trikes to lend out, along with helmets, to cater for riders of all ages and sizes.

BRITISH INDIVIDUAL FINALS WEEKEND

Good luck to the Astley & Tyldesley duo of Emily Burgess and Frank White, who will be competing in this weekend's championships.

Women's World Champion, 22 years old Emily Burgess, defends her British title, as she aims for a record breaking fourth British Women's title. Emily was British Women's Champion in 2021, 2022 and 2025, having won the British u-14 and u-16 Girls titles in 2018, along with the British Women's Indoor title in 2023.

Aged 15, Frank White will be competing in the u-16 Open, Junior and Open championships. Frank is also no stranger to winning a national champion's jersey. He won the National u-14 Open Road Race title in 2025, having previously won the British u-12 Boys Cycle Speedway title in 2022 and 2023, as well as the Little League u-10 title in 2021 and the Little League u-8 title in 2019.

Wednesfield host the racing on Saturday and Sunday, with Leicester staging the main finals on Monday.
