🏏 U11s Match Report vs Clifton 11s 🏏

Walkden won the toss and elected to bat first against a young but talented Clifton side.

We made a positive start with Alfie and Carter opening the batting. After building some excellent partnerships in recent weeks, they once again gave us a solid platform to build on.

Woody and Ibrahim were next to the crease and continued the momentum with some excellent stroke play, positive intent, and plenty of loud calling between the wickets. Both players found the boundary to keep the scoreboard moving.

Harrison and Nathaniel followed, with Harrison producing an outstanding innings, top-scoring with 24 runs from just 15 balls, including five boundaries. Nathaniel supported him brilliantly with energetic running between the wickets.

Charlie and Freddie finished the innings strongly, adding a combined 21 runs from 27 balls. Charlie struck an impressive 19 runs, including a huge six, while Freddie played some classy shots of his own, including a well-earned boundary.

Credit must go to Clifton, who bowled and fielded exceptionally well throughout, showing great determination and enthusiasm to keep the pressure on. Walkden finished on 115 runs, ending with a net score of 285 after losing five wickets.

With the ball, Walkden were equally impressive. We restricted Clifton to just 88 runs from their 16 overs, taking three wickets through Carter, Ibrahim and Harrison. One of the highlights of the innings was an excellent run-out from Freddie, who produced an accurate throw from distance to remove the batter.

Clifton finished with a net score of 264, giving Walkden a deserved 21-run victory.

🏏Walkden Warriors VS Roe Green 9s - Match report 🏏

Our Walkden Warriors U9s were back in action on Sunday morning, taking on a strong Roe Green side.

After winning the toss, Walkden elected to bowl first. It was a positive start in the field, with Tilly claiming our first wicket before Jack quickly added another. Despite the early breakthroughs, Roe Green showed their experience with an impressive batting display, scoring consistently throughout their innings.

The team went into bat full of enthusiasm and determination. Facing a disciplined and accurate Roe Green bowling attack, we unfortunately lost valuable points through wickets. However, there were plenty of positives to take from the game. This is a very young and developing U9s squad, and every match provides valuable experience. One area we’ll continue to focus on in training is communication between the wickets and calling runs, which will help the team grow in confidence.

Logan earned Player of the Match for his noticeable improvement with both bat and ball, as well as his fantastic effort and determination throughout the game. Well done, Logan!

A big well done to all of our Warriors for their hard work and positive attitude. Keep learning, keep improving, and enjoy your cricket! 💚🏏

🏏 JUNIORS ARE BACK IN ACTION! 🔥

Another exciting week of junior cricket is here, with plenty of home fixtures for our Walkden youngsters! Come down to the club, cheer on our boys and girls, and help create a fantastic atmosphere from the boundary.

🌭 Tuck Shop Update
The tuck shop will be open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, with hot dogs available on Tuesday and Wednesday – perfect for keeping everyone fuelled while enjoying the cricket!

🚗 Thursday Away Fixture
Our Under 15s are away on Thursday, and if you can make the trip to support them, it would mean a lot. The louder the support, the better!
