Having a dedicated notes page in my phone for me to jot down any thoughts, notes, quotes or ideas is such an underrated hack.

I love listening to podcasts or audiobooks while out on a walk and having my notes app primed and ready for whenever I’ve heard or seen something that I want to remember has been game changing.

Try it out - just probably come up with a better name than what I said 😂

Have you ever noticed you can mind read?

Somebody doesn’t reply to your text quick enough and you assume they’re annoyed at you.

Or they say “we need to talk,” and you’ve already decided you’re getting dumped.

That’s distortion. It’s when your brain changes information or fills in gaps without any actual evidence.

It happens because your brain hates uncertainty.

An unanswered question feels unsafe, so it invents an answer rather than just sitting i knowing.

The specific story it invents comes from you: your beliefs, your values and your past experiences.

What’s already primed to feel like a threat. If you grew up with silence or being ignored meaning trouble, that’s what you’ll perceive non response as being.

If you developed a belief that you weren’t good enough or valued then a “we need to talk” will trigger that thought pattern.

The good news is this doesn’t have to stay true for you.

But you can’t take that Champions League Final feeling away from me 😂😂

Most of us think in videos or pictures.

If I got you to think of something you probably replay the incident in your mind as a picture or video.

And when you think of it you can probably see, hear and feel the moment.

We do it for good things and for the bad.

Try the technique in the video for the next time you get a negative thought or get anxious about something.

She came to me for personal training. But we actually barely touched any weights.

Turned out the thing she wanted to change had nothing to do with her body and the fix she’d planned was aimed at the wrong thing entirely.

If you’re sure what the fix is and it’s still not working…it’s usually not the fix.

Your brain isn’t built to take in everything that happens on that screen.

It’s built to filter it, based on what you already believe, what you’re worried about, what you’ve already lived through.

So the version you watched wasn’t the film. It was the film run through everything you already are.

Same goes for your life.

The situation you’re in right now isn’t fixed reality. It’s reality filtered through you.

How many ‘f’s did you count?

Comment your number before reading the rest of the caption.

If you counted six first time, well done you’re a genius.

Three is normal, four is a bit rarer.

That’s because in this example our brains tend to not process the word ‘of’ - it gets deleted.

One of our 3 primary filters is delete.

We will delete information that comes into our nervous system and this filter is essential for our survival.

But often we’ll delete important things, things we need to pay attention to.

Things that could affect our goals or aspirations.
