As part of the latest Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) WaterSafety campaign we are reminding people about the dangers of open water.
If you encourage your mates to go in the water it could be the last time you see them. Cold water shock kills even the strongest swimmers.

A big well done to two of our Academy swimmers, Alexandra and Sienna, who competed in the recent Rising Stars Gala at the Manchester Aquatics centre.
Alexandra won silver in the 50 m front crawl, and Sienna won bronze in the 50 m breaststroke.

Always follow the Water Safety Code:
π¦Stop and think
Take time to assess your surroundings. Look for the dangers and always research local signs and advice.
π¦Stay together
When around water always go with friends or family. Swim at a lifeguarded venue.
π¨In an emergency
π± Call 999
If you are at the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Donβt enter the water to rescue.
π€½ Float
Fall in or become tired - stay calm, float on your back and call for help. Throw something that floats to somebody that has fallen in.
