Trans people belong in sport!

Manchester Roller Derby will always stand with our trans members and friends. Although the EHRC guidance makes it easier for organisations to exclude trans people, we will never be one of them. There is plenty of evidence that the hostile environment in the UK is causing trans people to disengage from public life, which is exactly what the transphobic supporters of this guidance want.

Sport is so important for our health and wellbeing, and especially so for marginalised groups. The community created around roller derby can be absolutely vital for people who otherwise feel excluded. We will continue to work with our governing bodies, WFTDA, MRDA; and Five Nations Roller Derby to ensure that trans people are not excluded from our sport. Whether you want to play or not, there will always be a space for you at MRD. 🏳️‍⚧️ 🩷 🤍 💙 🏳️‍⚧️

What a way to start a weekend!
Chaos Engine had an absolute blast scrimming against Beta Brummies yesterday.
A huge thank you to Beta Brummies for making the trip north and bringing such an amazing scrim fun atmosphere. We loved every minute of it and came away with loads to build on.

Just look how happy all the Badass Blockers,Top Banana’s, Hot Jam’s and Captains choices are!

🏆Huge congratulations and GOOD LUCK to our Manchester Roller Derby talent competing in Orléans, France at the Men’s Roller Derby World Cup this weekend.🥳

We’re so proud of our skaters, coaches, officials and support staff representing Team England, Team Ireland and Team Officials. We know just how much work has gone into getting here, and how long some have waited for this moment. These superstars are usually our team coaches, committee members, skaters and bench support and we are excited to see them do their stuff in the world’s stage.

From Thursday, we’ll be cheering from Manchester at 8:00 (BST) with breakfast croissants for Ireland v Mexico, and again from 13:00 with lunchtime baguettes for England v Chile 🥖 see slide 2 for full timings!
