This summer, Coach Joel Weston will be leaving the club to take on a new professional opportunity.
Joel has been an integral part of our programme since January 2023, when he first joined us as a placement student from Salford University. Over the last three and a half years, it has been a pleasure to watch him develop his knowledge, refine his skills, and earn his coaching qualifications within our system. His hard work and dedication led to his well-deserved appointment as Head Development Coach in May 2024.

Since taking on that leadership role, Joel has made a tremendous impact. Over the past two years, we have seen significant improvements across the entire development squad—not just in terms of technical progress and results, but also in the positive culture he has fostered among the swimmers. We are incredibly grateful to Joel for his commitment and energy, and while we are sad to see him go, we wish him the absolute best of luck in his next chapter.

Day 6 – English Nationals and Welsh Nationals 🏊‍♀️

What a way to finish a long, hard week of racing. Huge congratulations to everyone who competed this week—you’ve represented yourselves and the team brilliantly.

A tough double for a trio of our girls, taking on both the 400m Freestyle and 200m IM!

🏊‍♀️ Gracie
• 400m Free: Well planned and well executed, earning a time drop in the final.
• 200m IM: A solid heat swim, just missing out on a place in the final.

🏊‍♀️ Autum
• 400m Free: Controlled heat swim followed by an great final, dropping five seconds.
• 200m IM: A great PB in the heats, then stepped up again to go even quicker in the final, narrowly missing out on a medal. What a superb 2 weeks she has had considering injury ruled her out of the last day of British! Tremendous resilience to come back so strong!

🏊‍♀️ Ellie
• 400m Free: Strong, controlled heat before finding another level in the final to drop more time, just missing out on a medal.
• 200m IM: A strong opening, controlled finish, and a brilliant bronze medal performance. 🥉

🏊‍♂️ Mason
• 50m Free: A fast and powerful finish to the meet with a speedy 50m freestyle. It’s been a top meet for Mason

• 200m IM: Stepped up brilliantly in the final, lowering her time again with a composed race and a strong finish!

50 fly: Another gold medal 🥇 at Welsh Summer nationals in a strong PB
400 free: Battled to bronze in an event he is still learning to race. Dylan is having a superb championships!

This week has been about resilience, learning, backing yourselves, and finding another gear when it mattered most. Every swim added up to a season’s worth of hard work paying off.

What a season it’s been. Everyone should be incredibly proud of what they’ve achieved. Now it’s time for a well-earned rest before the next chapter begins🐺

A special thank you to our incredible coaching team - Rick, Liam, Joel and Jolan who have spent many long hours (often 12 hour days) on poolside over the last 2 weeks away from families but always there to support our swimmers through the good times and the tough times! Day 5 at the English Nationals

Another day of hard work paying off in the pool.

Ruby – 100 Free: A strong heat followed by an equally strong final, matching her time exactly. Consistency at its best.

🥉 Amy – 100 Free: Dropped more time in the final to secure a brilliant bronze medal. A fantastic race.

🥉 Autumn – 200 Fly: Went out like a rocket and dug deep over a tough back end to hold on for a well-earned bronze.

🥈 Joey – 100 Breast: Powered home over the closing stages to take silver, just missing out on gold in a great performance.

🥇 Dylan – 50 Free: A sprint masterclass, producing an outstanding swim to take home the gold medal.

One final day to go. One last push. Let’s finish strong 🐺

Day 4 at the English and Welsh Nationals saw more medals and PBs 💥

Oli – 200m Freestyle: A strong finish to his season with a determined swim

🥈 Mason – 200m Freestyle: Silver medal! Fantastically processed from start to finish and executed the race brilliantly to claim his first national medal

🥇 Ellie – 800m Freestyle: Gold medal! A perfectly processed race, smashing her PB in style

Luca – 100m Backstroke: A PB in his very first National swim – an exciting debut

Harry – 100m Backstroke: Continued to build on his processes from the heats through to the final, finishing his season on a high just outside the medal places

Mason – 50m Butterfly: Two strong swims – controlled heat and an all-out final to close it out

🥉Colleen - a special mention as well to Colleen who picked up a bronze medal racing for Birmingham Uni in the 200 breaststroke!

🥈Dylan - 100 free silver and a Pb to back up yesterdays medals

Day 3 at Swim England Summer Nationals saw all our 5 swimmers step up and make it through to finals with 3 medals! On top of this, Dylan also made it through to two finals in Wales picking up 2 medals!

🥈 Tatiana – 100 Breaststroke: Silver medal with a huge time drop and her first ever national medal after making the British 200 final last week.

Gabby – 100 Breaststroke: Stepped up into the final with her best time of the season! A great way to finish on Ricks last day of nationals!

Mason – 100 Butterfly: Trusted the process, delivered a fantastic PB, and took a big chunk off his time to finish 6th

🥈 Amy MC – 200 Freestyle: Silver medal after a fantastic performance and learning from heats to final.

🥈 Autum – 50 Butterfly: Another superb medal from Autum with over a 1 second drop from her PB.

🥈🥉 Dylan - 200 free silver and 100 back bronze in his first races in Wales!

Day 2 at Swim England Summer Nationals

Another day of brilliant racing, personal bests, first time national finals and performances to be proud of 👏

🥉 Autum – 3rd | 100 Fly
An outstanding battle from start to finish, with a fantastic closing speed to earn a well-deserved bronze and PB

Corey – 10th | 200 Fly
His first national final with a great effort in the final despite an injured arm!

Mason – 9th | 100 Free
Backed up his heat swim with another time drop in the final and a big PB. Great racing.

Joey – 4th | 50 Breaststroke
Narrowly missed the podium, but showed excellent progression from the heats with another big PB

Lilly-Rose – 9th | 1500 Free
A tough event tackled with real grit, determination, and a strong performance.
