"Black Heart Angels are a covers band….no wait…come back…we may “only” be a covers band, but we are pretty damn good. We come from an alt rock/p***y background and we play indie, alt rock, p***y, poppy covers with added ooomphh"

They were a huge hit when they played at Malvern Rocks so of course we had to ask them back - come and see then on Saturday November 21st - free entry

Linkwells is a four-piece indie-rock band founded in Malvern, the group blends classic Britpop influences with a modern indie sound.

The Green 4th XI rounded off their season with an entertaining 16-run victory over Worcester 5th XI in a friendly

After winning the toss, Green 4th XI captain Chris Strachan elected to bat first and saw his side make an excellent start through Harry Howes and Hayden Golder. The pair laid a solid platform, combining positively against the Worcester attack and taking the score to 91 before the first wicket fell. Howes was the first to depart after a fluent 37 from 46 deliveries, striking four boundaries. Golder continued to anchor the innings superbly, producing the standout batting performance for the home side. His debut half-century (55) came from 68 balls included eight fours and provided the backbone of the innings.

However, Worcester fought back strongly in the middle overs. Harry Whitehurst proved particularly effective, removing Mark Philpotts, Jude Rea and Lola-Ann Stimson to claim 3-14 from five overs and briefly put the visitors in control. The Green responded through a valuable lower-order contribution from Brodrick Strachan, whose quickfire 19 from 16 balls helped rebuild momentum. James Eyles also added an important 19, while Robert Eyles chipped in with 14 from just nine deliveries as the innings moved towards the 200 mark. Although the hosts lost wickets regularly towards the end, they were aided by 42 extras and managed to reach 199 all out in 33.5 overs, giving themselves a defendable target.

Worcester's reply could hardly have started worse. Chris Strachan struck twice in the opening overs, removing Lucas Moseley and Tom George-Plunkett to leave the visitors in early trouble. Further wickets from Brodrick Strachan and Robert Eyles reduced Worcester to 31-4 and placed Barnards Green firmly in command. The innings was rescued by Alex Taylor, who played an outstanding counterattacking knock. Taylor dominated the scoring with a superb 63 from 53 balls, including seven fours and three sixes. Together with Joshua Evans, he helped rebuild the innings and brought Worcester back into contention.

Despite Taylor's efforts, the Green maintained pressure through regular breakthroughs. Hayden Golder capped an excellent all-round performance by producing the decisive spell of the match. Having top-scored with the bat, he then claimed four wickets for 35 runs, removing Naveen Ahmed, Joshua Evans, Thomas Maitland and Jonty Osborne. When Taylor was run out by Simon Rea for 63 with the score on 142, the momentum swung firmly back towards the hosts. Worcester battled hard through Marc Evans' 16, but wickets continued to fall (including a debut senior wicket from Roland Strachan) and the visitors were eventually dismissed for 183 in 33.1 overs.

The Green 3rd XI finished their season with a victory over Droitwich Spa 3rd XI.

After winning the toss, Barnards Green captain Adam Binks elected to field first and saw his side produce a disciplined performance against a Droitwich batting line-up that threatened several times to post an even bigger score than their eventual 220-9 from 45 overs.

The home side made a positive start through Tom Gibson and Harry Staley before Ant Eyles made the breakthrough, removing Gibson for 16. Staley continued to anchor the innings and shared useful partnerships through the middle overs, but the Green consistently found wickets at key moments to prevent Droitwich from fully taking control. The introduction of Max Middlebrook proved particularly effective, he claimed three vital wickets, including the dangerous Staley for 44 and Oscar Harris. Earlier, a smart run out orchestrated by Ant Eyles had removed Chris Berry, while further pressure in the field led to another run out of Freddie Butler.

Alex Harris then produced Droitwich's standout batting performance, compiling an excellent 54 from 64 deliveries, striking nine fours and a six. His innings, combined with James King's aggressive 34 and Richard Ayers' late 26, helped the home side accelerate towards the end of their innings. Despite that late flourish, the Green kept their composure. Middlebrook finished with impressive figures of 3-32, while Ollie Eyles, Ant Eyles, Thomas Champkins and Oscar Binks each collected a wicket as Droitwich closed on 220-9.

The chase began nervously with Leon Everett and Georgia Hennessy both departing early, and Oliver Lowe struck repeatedly to leave the visitors under pressure at 85-5. Kev Golder had provided a brisk 37 from only 25 balls, including six fours and a six. Captain Adam Binks played an outstanding unbeaten innings of 55 from just 44 balls, finding the boundary 11 times. The run chase was interrupted by rain in the 25th over with the score on 169-5. With no chance of a resumption DLS came in to play giving the Green a win by 5 wickets.

The Green 2nd XI produced a spirited performance with the ball but rain curtailed their run chase

Having won the toss, Green captain Elliot Hennessy elected to field first, and the visitors made an encouraging start. Freddie Ammonds removed Harry Butler early on, while Ayaan Baig struck repeatedly during an impressive spell that kept Droitwich under pressure. Baig accounted for Jack Eaton, Sam Smith and Owen Roberts as Droitwich slipped from a promising position to 72-4. Eaton's aggressive 32 had threatened to put the home side firmly on the front foot, but the Green's bowlers responded well. Baig, bowling with excellent control and movement, finished with outstanding figures of 5-44 from his 10 overs, while Ammonds would later claim four wickets of his own.

The key contribution for Droitwich came from Max Young, who anchored the innings superbly after arriving at the crease during a difficult period. Young gradually rebuilt the innings alongside wicketkeeper Sam Woolley, adding valuable runs through the middle overs. Woolley contributed a patient 25 before becoming Baig's fifth victim, but Young continued to accelerate as wickets fell around him. Young reached a deserved century from exactly 100 deliveries, striking 13 fours and a six. His innings proved the backbone of the Droitwich total and allowed the hosts to post a competitive 241 all out from their 50 overs. The Green's bowlers deserved considerable credit for restricting the scoring for lengthy periods. Ammonds' 4-45 provided excellent support to Baig's five-wicket haul.

Droitwich struck early as Sam Smith removed Rapha Rea and Rob Wilson, while Max Young added another wicket to leave the visitors struggling at 17-3. Jay Styles again demonstrated his quality and resilience, holding the innings together with an unbeaten 47 from 63 balls. Josh Everett contributed 16 before becoming Smith's third victim. Styles and Ammonds, who finished unbeaten on 21, guided the visitors to 102-4 when the rain came. A DLS calculation showed that the Green needed to be on 121 at the 21.3 over so lost the match by 18 runs (DLS).

The 1st XI signed off their Premier Division One campaign in emphatic fashion with a crushing 270-run victory over Moseley at North End Lane, producing a dominant all-round performance that featured three outstanding individual batting contributions and a remarkable double hat-trick from Phil Harris.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, the Green wasted little time in taking control. Despite losing captain Ryan Tongue for 15 with the score on 42, Joe Harrison launched a magnificent assault on the Moseley attack. Harrison raced to a fluent half-century from just 37 balls, peppering the boundary with 11 fours. He shared a crucial second-wicket partnership of 135 with Ollie Halion, helping Green reach 100 inside 13 overs. Harrison looked destined for a deserved century before Ali Awan trapped him lbw for a superb 99 from 84 deliveries, an innings containing 20 boundaries. However, any relief for Moseley was short-lived. Halion continued to accumulate confidently, reaching his half-century from 73 balls before finding an increasingly aggressive partner in Jevan Kher.

The pair transformed a strong position into a commanding one with a stunning third-wicket stand worth 185 runs. Kher was particularly destructive, reaching his fifty from 60 balls before accelerating to a century from only 86 deliveries. His innings of 111 included ten fours and five sixes. At the other end, Halion completed a superb century from 111 balls, striking eight fours and three maximums in his 102. The Green finished on a massive 381-4 from their 50 overs. Moseley's task was made even harder by a generous 49 extras conceded during the innings.

Moseley began positively in reply, with Shayaan Abid striking an entertaining 35 from 31 balls and putting on 59 for the second wicket alongside Ramanjot Jaswal. At 69-1, the visitors had at least shown some resistance, but the match changed dramatically when the Green's bowlers tightened their grip. Jon Dovey removed both Abid and skipper Andy Umeed, while Jaswal's patient 31 was ended by Dovey to leave Moseley in trouble. Then came an extraordinary spell from Phil Harris. The seamer ripped through the lower order, claiming six wickets for just 13 runs from six overs. Harris produced a hat-trick and then a rare double hat-trick as Moseley collapsed from 111-5 to 111 all out. Dovey finished with 3-36, while Harris's sensational 6-13 sealed one of the most memorable bowling performances of the season.
