We're getting started installing the 1874 II/18 John Nicholson organ back into St Paul's Church, Irton, Cumbria (project details at https://www.nicholsonorgans.co.uk/pf/irton/). Unfortunately, the power has gone off and is not to be back on till this afternoon, so historically authentic lighting techniques are being used.

Progress on the installation and commissioning of the 1889 II/20 Nicholson & Lord organ in St Andrew's Church, Birchills, Walsall, after a full historical restoration. The commissioning has been delayed for a couple of months due to mains electrical works required in the building but we now have wind on!

It's been a thrilling week hearing so many performances on our new organ at Gloucester Cathedral in this year's Three Choirs Festival.

Just some of the highlights have included

- Katelyn Emerson playing the Poulenc Concerto and Janáček's Glagolitic Mass
- Jonathan Hope improvising an accompaniment to the 1925 silent film The Phantom of the Opera
- a live broadcast of choral evensong on BBC Radio 3 (https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m002z7jk)
- a talk on the organ project by adviser Paul Hale
- Thomas Ospital giving a recital including Duprè's Symphonie-Passion, Ravel's Le Tombeau de Couperin, and an improvisation on two themes: i) Praise to the Holiest (from Elgar's The Dream of Gerontius); and ii) The Star-Spangled Banner, composed by the son of a former Gloucester Cathedral organist.

Work on the II/19 1925/1994 J.W. Walker & Sons organ of St Simon Zelotes Church, Chelsea. New Great and Swell soundboards, restoration of most of the unit chests, and redecoration of the facade pipes.
