“I just don’t have time to exercise.”

Fair enough.

But sometimes what that really means is:

“I don’t have time to exercise the way I think I’m supposed to.”

Because somewhere along the line, fitness got sold as:

✅60-minute workouts.
✅ 5 days a week.
✅ 10,000 steps every day.
✅ Meal prep on Sunday.
✅ Perfect sleep.
✅ Perfect food.
✅ Perfect routine.

And if you can’t do all of that?
You feel like you’re failing.

You’re not.

You probably just need a plan that fits your actual life.

For some people, that might mean:

✔️ 2 decent strength sessions a week.
✔️ A bit more walking.
✔️ Some sensible food choices.
✔️ And making the most of the time you do have.

That can be enough to make real progress. You don’t need to train for hours. You need to stop wasting the limited time you’ve got on things that don’t move you forward.

Because the best plan isn’t the one that looks impressive on paper.
It’s the one you can still do when life is busy.

So maybe the question isn’t:

“Do I have time to exercise?” Maybe it’s:
“What’s the best use of the time I actually have?

If this sounds like you then get in touch. PB Fitness is here to help and support, not punish you and make you feel awful.
A proper plan designed around you and your time.

Summer’s coming to an end…..well, the school holidays are at least. 😁 (Glad the kids are going back soon?)

Which means routines are starting to creep back into view.

And if you’re thinking: "Right. I really need to get myself back on track…”

You probably don’t have a motivation problem.
You might just have a plan that only works when life behaves itself.

Monday goes well.
Tuesday isn’t bad.
Then Wednesday happens…

Work overruns.
The kids need something.
Dinner gets pushed back.
You’re knackered.

And suddenly that workout you were definitely going to do disappears.
That doesn’t automatically mean you’re lazy.
And it doesn’t mean you need some huge burst of motivation to “get back on it”.

Sometimes the problem is simpler:

Your routine is too fragile.

If your fitness plan only works when you’ve got loads of time, loads of energy and nothing unexpected happens……it probably isn’t a very good plan.

The goal isn’t to build a perfect week.

It’s to build one that still works when life gets messy.
That might mean shorter workouts, fewer sessions done properly, walking when you can, planning around your busiest days and having a fallback instead of writing the whole week off.

Because consistency isn’t about never missing.
It’s about not letting one missed day become three missed weeks.
That’s the bit most people actually need help with.

So be honest…

Is motivation really your problem? Or does life just keep getting in the bloody way? 😁

14/08/2026

If your fitness routine has gone completely to pot over the summer holidays… congratulations. You’re normal. 😁

We’re roughly halfway through the school holidays.
Which means the normal routine may currently involve:
🍦 More ice creams
🍔 BBQs
🍻 A few extra drinks
🚗 Days out
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Kids being absolutely everywhere
…and occasionally thinking “I really should do something today…” before deciding tomorrow sounds much more sensible.

And do you know what?
That’s okay.
You haven’t ruined anything.

You don’t need to starve yourself, “detox”, or punish yourself with seven workouts next week.
Summer is supposed to be enjoyed.
The danger isn't a few less-than-perfect weeks.
It's letting those weeks turn into months because you're waiting for the perfect Monday to start again.
You don't need one.

Walk a bit more. Get a workout in when you can. Eat some decent food amongst the holiday stuff.
Nothing dramatic.
Just start gently putting a little structure back.

Because consistency isn't about being perfect all year.
It's being able to enjoy life, wobble occasionally… and then find your way back.

Consistently consistent. 👍🏻

So, confession time…
Has your routine survived the summer holidays... or has it gone completely AWOL? 😂

310 Pull-Ups in August.....Because Cancer Has Affected Far Too Many of Us

This August, I’ll be taking on 310 pull-ups in support of Cancer Research UK

Now, 310 pull-ups may not sound completely ridiculous… until you remember that gravity is relentless, my shoulders are nearly 50 years old, and pull-ups have never once cared about positive thinking.

But behind the challenge is something far more important.

Cancer has touched the lives of far too many people around me. From close friends to immediate family, and many others in between.

I’ve seen people affected by bowel cancer, scalp melanoma and sarcoma, including one of the rarest forms uterine leiomyosarcoma.

Different diagnoses. Different treatments. Different journeys.

But behind every diagnosis is a real person, surrounded by family and friends who are frightened, hopeful, exhausted, determined, and often all four at once.

That’s why I’m doing this.

Every penny raised will help fund vital research, improve treatments and give more people the chance of more time with those they love. Research has already changed outcomes for countless families, but there is still so much more work to be done.

As a personal trainer, I spend a lot of time encouraging people to challenge themselves, become stronger and do things they didn’t think they could do.

So it only seems fair that I occasionally practise what I preach.

I’ll be sharing the challenge through PB Fitness & Nutritio, hopefully raising some awareness along the way, and possibly discovering several new and creative ways to complain about my arms.

Whether you can donate, share the page, encourage me, or simply follow along, it genuinely means a great deal.

This is for the friends and family we’ve lost, those currently going through treatment, the survivors, and everyone whose life has been changed by cancer.

Thank you for your support.

A Competition that’s too good to ignore – will you be the winner❓
Someone local is about to get 30 days of proper coaching for FREE.
Not a diet plan printed from Google. Not a random workout PDF.
Actual 1:1 support, training, nutrition guidance, accountability, and a clear plan to help you get moving again.
I’m giving one local person the chance to kickstart their fitness properly.
Not with a fad. Not with a 6-week shred. Not with a “go hard or go home” bootcamp that leaves you walking like Bambi on ice.
This is for someone in Yalding, Maidstone, or the surrounding area who knows they need a fresh start, but isn’t quite sure where to begin.
Maybe you feel a bit stuck. Maybe your fitness has slipped. Maybe your clothes don’t feel how you want them to feel.
It seems like “I’ll start Monday” keeps getting pushed to the following Monday, then the Monday after that.....
Or maybe you just want someone to take the guesswork out of it and show you what to do 👍
So, I’m giving away:
The PB Fitness 30-Day Reset
The winner will receive a complete 30-day fitness, fat loss and confidence reset with PB Fitness & Nutrition, working with me at my private facility.
This includes:

PB Fitness Nutrition Kickstart Pack
A personalised calorie/protein target
A simple meal structure
Easy breakfast, lunch and dinner ideas
A “what to eat when you’re busy” guide
A shopping list
2 PB Fitness ebooks: Guide to Healthy Eating and a 15 Recipe Smoothie Pack
This isn’t about punishing yourself for 30 days.
It’s about getting clear, building confidence, learning what works for you, and proving to yourself that you can start again without needing to live in the gym or survive on lettuce and sadness.
By the end of the 30 days, the aim is for you to feel more in control, more confident, clearer on what to do, and ready to keep building from there.
To get your name in the draw for a chance to win this amazing prize, all you need to do is complete these 3 SIMPLE ACTIONS…
1. COMMENT “RESET” & LIKE THIS POST (this ORIGINAL post, not the one that’s been shared by your friend).
2. TAG AT LEAST ONE PERSON WHO LIVES LOCALLY IN THE ORIGINAL POST. You can tag as many friends as you like, and if they’re not already a client of mine, each name will give you an additional entry into the draw. So if you tag 10 people, you are 10X more likely to be selected!

In this warm weather it's even more important to stay hydrated. You're sweating doing nothing.

As a general guide, your weight in kg x 0.03 is your water target on a normal day (for your body mass). You need to be drinking at least 1 litre extra throughout the day in this heat.

During a heatwave, plain water alone is often not enough to keep you fully hydrated because heavy sweating depletes your body's essential minerals like sodium, potassium, and magnesium.

Electrolyte drinks or foods help your body absorb water faster, prevent heat cramps, and ward off heat exhaustion. Electrolytes speed up the rate at which water moves from your intestines into your bloodstream.
Take them If you are exercising, gardening, or working outdoors in the heat for more than 45–60 minutes. Even if you aren't actively moving, intense ambient heat causes your body to sweat out salts steadily.

Replenish with effervescent electrolyte tablets dissolved in water. Coconut water naturally contains high potassium and magnesium while a pinch of high-quality sea salt (or pink Himalayan salt) in plain water works in a pinch.

Limit your intake of caffeine and alcohol during a heatwave. Both act as diuretics, meaning they accelerate fluid and mineral loss and actively contribute to dehydration.

This is worth a read 👇

The BBC have shared an article on strength training and long-term health — and the headline is a big one:

Around 90–120 minutes of strength training per week could be the sweet spot for helping reduce the risk of early death.

Now, before anyone panics and thinks that means living in the gym, it really doesn’t.

That’s basically 2–3 sensible strength sessions a week.

And strength training doesn’t just mean lifting massive weights, grunting in front of a mirror and drinking protein shakes out of a bucket.

It can be:

✅ Squats
✅ Press-ups
✅ Resistance bands
✅ Kettlebells
✅ Dumbbells
✅ Core work
✅ Getting stronger at movements you use in real life

This is the bit I keep banging on about:

Strength training isn’t just about looking better.

It’s about ageing better.
It’s about keeping your independence. It’s about having stronger bones, better balance, better movement, more confidence, and being able to keep doing the things you enjoy.

Playing with the grandkids, carrying the shopping, getting up off the floor, walking up hills without feeling broken.

Feeling like your body still works with you, not against you.

Yes, fat loss matters for a lot of people.
But building strength?

That’s the stuff that pays you back for decades.

The good news is you don’t need to be fit to start.
You just need to start at the right level, with the right plan, and build from there.

Have a read of the article, and if this gives you the nudge you needed, drop me a message.

You don’t need more motivation.
You need something that actually works.

Most people I work with aren’t “gym people”.

They’re busy.
Knackered.
Trying to juggle work, kids, life…

And fitness?

It’s the thing that keeps getting pushed to “next week”.

Sound familiar?

The problem isn’t effort.
It’s not laziness.

It’s that you’ve never had:

✔️ A plan that fits YOUR life
✔️ Sessions you can actually stick to
✔️ Someone keeping you accountable

So you start… stop… start again…
and wonder why nothing sticks.

That’s exactly what I fix.

If you’re fed up with going round in circles…
Comment “START” or drop me a message.

We’ll keep it simple and make it work.
