Open Letter - 11th June, 2026

Last Thursday we sent an Open Letter to Bollington Health & Leisure regarding their plans to close and repurpose the Squash Courts at the centre on the 30th September!

The letter highlights our concerns regarding the repeated indication that the Board does not intend to reconsider its decision regardless of any evidence, alternative proposals or community impact information that may be presented.

Nevertheless members of the squash community have invested considerable time and effort into gathering evidence relating to participation, health outcomes, community impact, junior development and the long-term sustainability of squash at Bollington Health & Leisure.

The Board were presented with a Health & Community impact report which puts forwards a strong health case for retaining the Squash Courts. They were also sent a viable and credible Growth & Sustainability plan for the Courts which proves the Courts can continue to be a valuable community asset.

We continue to believe that the removal of a named Charity Objective should be the last resort and not the first, which the Leisure Centre have failed to demonstrate.

You may or may not have heard the devastating news that Bollington Health & Leisure have decided to close and repurpose the Squash Courts at the Centre as of 30th September, 2026.

Please see our statement below regarding this well used, loved and valuable community asset!

This removal of a named Sport in the charities own governing documents, has been taken without consultation with the members, coaches, parents, stakeholders or the wider community.

📋 MATCH REPORT – Week 11
📆 Thursday 4th December, 2025

Annnd here we are…. the final week of the first half of the season and the countdown to Christmas is on! 🎄🎄🤩🤩

With the women and the third team both finishing for the year the week before, this weeks Matches include a catastrophic capitulation from the Bollington Firsts and a spirited but ultimately futile effort from Bolly 2! 😳😳

At Home Bollington 2 hosted a strong David Lloyd team. After a 2-month injury hiatus, the last thing Rob needed was a 3-2 marathon! Unfortunately, that is what he got 🤣 and even more unfortunate was coming out the other side having lost 12-10 in the 5th game (after being 2-0 up too! 😩🥵) Nightmare.

Lyndon and Zach took one for the team at the top and tail of the side, while Madisen had her chances to make her mark on the Match, but couldn’t convert the opportunity, losing it 3-1. 😢 With the match gone, it was a consolatory win for Lewis, even if it was the win of the season! 😂👌 Coming through two opening tie breaks 14-12, 12-10, only a slight slip up in the 3rd game prevented a 3-0 clean sweep against his highest ranked scalp the Junior has taken in his Squash career! 🥳👏👏

Away at Alderley Edge, the first team had what could have only been described as a ‘mare. 😅 Despite a 6-year gap (other than the week before), Chris still got chopped by the ever-solid Ollie Harris. 🪓 It seemed to set the tone for the rest of the evening as like dominos Olli, Harry and Martin all also lost 3-0. 😭 Even the ever-infallible Walton came unstuck and lost an unexpected bout at 2nd string! 😳 At least he got a point to spare the side from 20-0 whitewash – still quite a humbling end to the half for the firsts! 🫣

Not the end to the year the teams wanted! Maybe Santa will bring some bonus points for Christmas! 🤞🤞😅

📋 MATCH REPORT – Week 10
📆 W/C Monday 24th November, 2025

Quieter week 🤫 on the Squash front last week as only Bollington 2 and Bollington 3 took to the Courts on Thursday. Bollington 1 enjoyed a week off as they were due to play the now withdrawn Hyde 1 side. 😳

Sadly, there wasn’t much to report on either game, other than a spanking for both teams! 🫣

Bolly 2 travelled to Hyde to play their seconds, but really is just the Hyde 1st team. 🤔 The most interesting thing that happened on the night was a 15-minute lock-in in the girls changing room for Madisen & Jas, who eventually managed to escape! 🤣🤣 On the Squash front, despite some spirited performances, it was 3-0’s all round! 😢

Bollington 3 were also on the road to local rivals Prestbury. In their last game of the half, the side also suffered a 5-0 defeat. ☹️ Tom G lead from the front and came the closest to getting a Match over the line in his 3-2 defeat at first string! 😩 For everyone else it as a similar fate to the seconds as everyone else lost in 3.

Earlier in the week the Ladies finished off their first half with a fantastic win over a travelling Liverpool side. 🥳 Vicki made her return to team Squash in just over a month and got the side off to a winning start. 👏👏 After going 2-0 up she wanted to keep the crowd on their toes by losing the next two 9-11, 11-13, but was able to pull it back with a commanding 11-4 win in the 5th. 💪💪

Unfortunately, it wasn’t Jen’s night on the other Court as she struggled to get a foothold in the Match. Thankfully the young trio of Georgia, Madisen & Bea were able to bring home the Victory. 🫡 Slow starts for Madisen and Bea were soon corrected as they both went on to win 3-1. Georgia also was able to secure her second win of the season with a confident 3-1 victory! 🙌🙌 Final score 4-1 and 16 points gained. The side finish the first half of the season in 4th. 💪💪

📋 MATCH REPORT – CATCH-UP (Week 8 & 9)
📆 10th – 20th November, 2025

It’s been another two weeks of action in the NWCSL & NWWSL for Bollington! ✌🏼

Bolly Ladies only have one Match left of the first half. 🤯 So far they sit 5th in the table with 2 wins and 3 losses. One of those losses came at the start of the week when the side made the trip to Grove Park. On freezing cold Courts, the side simply couldn’t get going. 🥶 Nic was the only winner on the night, having nearly thrown away a 2-0 lead! 😬😅

The 4-1 defeat was a reversal of the sides 4-1 victory the week before, when the side hosted the Northern. 💪🏼💪🏼 It took Bea a warm-up game to get going, before eventually wrapping up the evenings Squash with a 3-1 win. There were also wins for Madisen, Nic and Jen on the sides route to victory. 🥳🥳

If the pattern of LWLWL continues, the side are set to win their final Match against Liverpool on Monday! 🤞🏼😅 Good Luck ladies! 🍀🍀

Onto Thursday’s Matches and it has also been a mixture of fortunes for the Bollington 1st Team over the past two weeks. Last week the side found themselves in a top of the table clash with Bowdon! 🤯 The host side must have been worried as they brought in reinforcements form Division 1 for the fixture, who played Chris at first string. 💩 ‘nuff said, moving on… It was also a tough night for Bea and Martin, who also lost in 3. 😢

Highlights of the night included an impressive win for Harry as he continues his rise up the rankings this season; and a hard fought 3-2’er for James, who was a Boast away from securing a victory with Match Ball in the 5th game, which he went on to lose 12-10! 😫🤏🏼 The night ended 4-1 to Bowdon.

From top of the table last week to bottom of the table this week, the side were able to get back to winning ways as they hosted Brooklands. Bea kicked off proceeding with a solid 3-0 win in her first Home game of the season! 🫢😅 A filthy reverse angle Boast secured Martin’s first game 🤣 before he too brough home the W in 3. 💪🏼💪🏼

Harry had hoped for a continuation for last weeks form as he took to the court to try and seal the victory for Bollington. Sadly, on this occasion Harry was off the pace and in this case the pain on his face, told the story of a 3-1 defeat. 😩😩

Thankfully, James got the side back on track with a quick 3-0, as did Chris to round off the night 4-1 to Bollington with 18 points gained! 👏🏼👏🏼🫡

Also at Home this week were the 3rds, short by a player, which put them on the back foot from the start. 😬 Things only got better for the side when James stepped on the Court and came through 3 tie breaks: 12-10, 13-11, 13-11 🥵 for a 3-0 win; the sides only win of the night. Tom started strong going 2-0 up but was pegged back to eventually lose the tie. Final score 4-1, 17 points to 8.

The week before the side had a bit of a drubbing away to Bowdon. ☹️ Georgia’s sole game saved the side from a whitewash, but it was a difficult night for the side. 😢 The opening Win of the Season for the team seems like a long time ago! 🫠

Finally to Bollington 2. Bragging rights have firmly been with Lyndon over the past two weeks, as the sole winner over the last 2 Matches. 😳 His 3-2 this week, along with Olli’s game contributed to the teams 4 points against Bowdon, as everyone else went down in 3.

The week before it was Lewis picking up a couple more points, giving the Home side 5 points as they hosted the Northern. 🙃 The side will have to up their game over the next couple of weeks as they face Hyde 2 (technically Hyde 1), and last seasons relegated team David Lloyd. 😬🫣😅

📋 MATCH REPORT – Week 7
📆 W/C 3rd November, 2025

Rested and recharged after the half term break, Bolly were back in action this week in the NWWSL and NWCSL for another round of League Squash! 🔥🔥

The week started for the women at Cheetham Hill! Frustratingly it was a wasted trip for Vicki, who was informed that the side had 4 players, only after making the 30-mile journey to get there! 😤 With a 1-0 head start, Nic soon doubled their lead with her first win of the season, 3-0. 💪🏼💪🏼 Unfortunately, things went downhill from there…Madisen went an unhealthy shade of red after battling hard against semi-pro Amy Royle! 🥵 Her and Jen both lost in 3, while Georgia was able to get a game, but ultimately lost 3-1. Final Score 3-2 and 13 points to 7.

On to Thursday’s Matches and we start with Bollington 2, who made the trip to Grove Park. With a stacked team, the side were hopeful for a good result! 🤞🏼🤞🏼 With Matt back from Uni, he topped the team with younger brother Lewis playing 5th String. Both Robins boys secured victory in their respective matches. 🥳 After losing the 1st game 12-10, Matt went on to take the match 11-9, 11-9, 11-9! 👏🏼👏🏼 Lewis on the other hand wasn’t messing around and got his Match won in 3! 💪🏼💪🏼

In her 5th away game of the season, and second trip to Grove, Bea was also able to get W with a 3-1 victory at 2nd string. 🔥🔥 The sides only loss came from Andy, losing his Match 3-0 – nightmare! 😩 Highlight of the night, although he might not agree 😅, is Olli’s comeback from 2-0 down; battling through 2 tie-breaks in the 4th and 5th game to eventually get the win! 🥵👏🏼👏🏼 The night ended 4-1 to Bolly in their 2nd win of the season!

At Home, Bolly 3 also played Grove Park. They weren’t so fortunate in their 4-1 defeat to the travelling side. 😢 First on, Nic succumbed 3-0 before Zach, the Vaseline destroyer, levelled the Match by the same score. 😆🥳

Following on from that, the wheels fell off James’ comeback from 2-0 down. Taking the 4th game 12-10, he couldn’t continue the fight in the 4th as he went down 11-3. His 3-1 loss was matched by Georgia, who narrowly lost the 3rd game 11-9 before also losing the 4th 11-3. 😩 The night ended with Madisen’s 3-0 defeat at 1st String, completing the 4-1 loss, with 8 points gained (including Junior Bonus points).

On the other Court, Bollington 1 hosted the Northern 3. The night kicked off with Harry scrapping through an opening 11-8 game. Things got better as he settled into the game and took the next 2 games 11-4, 11-1 (no bagel this time! 😅) Chris continued the momentum and despite some lapses in concentration, also won 3-0! 💪🏼💪🏼

Bizarrely George managed to go from a bagel in the 1st game to game ball down in the 3rd game. 🥯🤦‍♂️ A ballsy rolling nick levelled the 3rd game 10-all before the Uni man was able to close out the Match 3-0. 🫡 Martin followed and fell in line with the 4th 3-0’er of the night: 11-9, 11-8, 11-5. 👍🏼

It fell to James to complete the clean sweep for Bolly 1’s first 5-0 win in 2 years. 😯😅 Without dropping a game, the side took 20 points to 0 which puts them in 2nd place! 🤯👏🏼👏🏼
