Yesterday we were delighted to welcome our Patron, HRH The Princess Royal, to the Club to celebrate more than 40 years of Wednesday Junior Sailing and the Grand Finale of our 2026 season.

Her Royal Highness met our young sailors, volunteers and supporters before heading out onto the Lymington River to see WJS in action, returning to the Club to present this season’s prizes to the children.

For more than 40 years, WJS has given generations of local children the opportunity to get out on the water, learn new skills, build confidence and, most importantly, have fun.

None of this would be possible without our incredible volunteers, who give their time week after week, or the longstanding support of Yacht Havens , headline sponsor of WJS since 2002.

To have our Patron with us to celebrate the children, volunteers and everyone who makes WJS possible was a very special way to bring another fantastic season to a close.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day one we will remember for a very long time. 💜⛵

🌴 Caribbean Night – Friday 25th September

We’re bringing a taste of the Caribbean to the Club on Friday 25th September at 19:00!

Join us for a relaxed evening of tropical flavours with a delicious three-course menu for £37.95 per person. Start with a Tropical Prawn Cocktail, followed by Jerk Chicken with Rice & Peas and Caribbean lime slaw, before finishing with homemade Jamaican Ginger Cake and pineapple & rum salsa.

A Jerk Butternut Squash main course is also available as a vegetarian option.

Gather some friends, book a table and come along for what promises to be a fun evening at the Club.

RLymYC Sailors Shine at the 420 Nationals

The 420 National Championships took place in Brixham from Thursday 27th to Monday 31st August, with 51 boats competing across a week of testing wind strengths and directions.

Royal Lymington Yacht Club sailors enjoyed some fantastic results, with all four RLymYC members finishing inside the top 14 overall:

Arthur Greaves & Nia Mecklenburgh (RLymYC) – 9th overall and 3rd Open Mixed Team

Hector Davies (RLymYC) & Seb Bailey – 10th overall and Junior National Champions, finishing as the first Under 17 team

Pippa Shepherd & Lauren Mecklenburgh (RLymYC) – 12th overall, 2nd Under 17 Team and 2nd Female Team
Tabitha Davies (RLymYC) & Sofia Sfaxi – 14th overall and 3rd Female Team

A brilliant set of results from our young sailors in a highly competitive 51-boat fleet. Congratulations to Nia, Hector, Lauren and Tabitha, and their sailing partners!

⛵️ 29er NATIONALS 2026 – GREAT RESULTS FOR ROYAL LYMINGTON! 🏆

Royal Lymington Yacht Club sailors enjoyed a fantastic week at the 2026 UK 29er National & Open Championships, held at Hayling Island Sailing Club from 15th–21st August.

Six days of racing brought everything from changing wind strengths to challenging sea states, with our RLymYC teams producing some brilliant results across the Gold and Silver fleets.

🥉 Freya Hutchinson & Joanna Macalister – Jolene
3rd overall in Gold & 1st Female, finishing their championship in style with a 2nd in the final race!

⭐ Dirk Rogers & William McEwen – Musto
5th in Gold, including fantastic 1st and 2nd-place finishes in the final series.

⛵ Jonny Rogers & Will Ahlheid – Roxanne
13th in Gold

⛵ Isla Hutchinson & Olivia Macalister – Robin
30th in Gold

👏 Ben McEwen & Felix Howe
4th in Silver

There was more success in the Crew Race, with Isla & Olivia finishing 8th overall and 1st Female, while Will & Jonny took 10th.

A fantastic set of results from our Royal Lymington sailors against a strong UK and international fleet. Huge congratulations to everyone who competed and represented the Club!

What a fantastic bicentenary Cowes Week for our Club sailors, with major honours for Lone Star, High Spirit and Derision across the racing and cruising fleets.

🌍⛵ Royal Lymington Sailors Take on the RS Tera World Championships!

A huge congratulations to our nine Royal Lymington Yacht Club sailors who travelled to Travemünde, Germany to compete in the RS Tera World Championships as part of the RS Games and Travemünde Sailing Week.

Facing everything from strong winds and big Baltic waves to light, tricky conditions, the team produced some fantastic performances throughout the week.
