We had 22 anglers fish todays Open match on Mistral and being the last match available to qualify for the final next week the pressure was on for some to find the fish and sneak in at the last minute,

Unfortunately for everybody who hadn't qualified it was another Dewhurst this week who closed the door to the final and shattered their hopes,

After Aiden had won last week from Peg 37 this week his dad Alan took the top honours to remind Aiden their is still life in the old dog yet.

Alan opted for Peg 33 at the far end of the lake and fished the pole long tight into the stick ups on dead reds to slowly start picking up the carp. Keeping his feeding to a minimal he managed to find 187lb 1oz of carp to take today's win,

In second place and finding his form at the right time was Colin Craven who has been fishing well on Mistral of late and he decided to fish Peg 29 and played the paitient game down the edge towards the pallet on Peg 30 and found the carp late on dead reds to weigh in 171lb 1oz

Third place went to Dave Cheetham who fished the pole at 6mtrs on the paste and the method feeder and wafters from Peg 39 and he had a good day for 136lb 4oz,

Luke Haskanye on Peg 51 managed to get 4th and win section 3 with 117lb 3oz of carp and a few silvers fishing the pole long with dead reds and had a few carp on the method feeder and pellet,

2nd) Colin Craven - 171lb 1oz - Peg 29
3rd) Dave Cheetham (BAS) - 136lb 4oz - Peg 39
4th) Luke Haskanye (Middy) - 117lb 3oz - Peg 51

Section 1) Lee Clancy (Leigh Tackle & Bait) - 69lb 14oz - Peg 3
Section 2) Gav Vernon (Leight Tackle & Bait) - 106lb 2oz - Peg 21
Section 3) Luke Haskanye (Middy) - 117lb 3oz - Peg 51

We weighed in a total of 1,344lb 5oz today and had 6 DWN (Tipped back)

The Wild Card in match head to head was won by Jay Cloney who beat Alex Shrubsole for the £50 prize today as a cash alternative for giving up a chance to fish the final

Thanks as always to all those who fished today and supported the cafe and to Ste Winstanley for assisting with the weighing in,

No Open match next week due to the final taking place and I will post up all the finalists in the morning

Fishery Opening and Closing times

With the dark nights slowly setting in we will now be closing the fishery at 19:00pm from Monday 21st September,

We will continue to open at 7am until the dark mornings are upon us and then adjust accordingly,

The same will apply to the closing times which will be reviewed on a week to week basis,

Morning,

It was cooler and windy coming into the fishery this morning but that's to be expected as we head into the colder months,

I will be reviewing the closing times today as it was dark driving home last night just gone half seven (Although it was a grey day) and don't want to have members packing up in the dark,

Yesterday mixed results on all 3 lakes with the majority of the members fishing opting to fish Mistral lake,

Dave W had a good day on Peg 53 on his slop and meat approach and found more fish just in the deeper water and said the margins were slow for him yesterday,

Mike and his son Sean had a good day with carp and bream, as did Bob and Jimmy a bit further down on the darkside,

James on Peg 2 also did okay with the fish coming in spurts and he was picking off the carp and some nice skimmers, Mark, Andy and their guest headed to the bottom end (Pegs 37,38,39) but only had a couple fish each,

Mescar saw Geoff on Peg 53 have a really good day with 27 carp falling to his method and pellet to the island tactics,

Paul on Peg 10 had a good day catching throughout the day on the pole with 8mm pellet over 2mm / 4mm loose feed,

Steve, Gill and Steve all reported back it was slow and had a couple fish each,

The Amberswood club match on Marin was won with 59lb from Peg 29 but a lot of the lads struggled with the carp failing to show in any numbers and had to rely on silvers to keep the bites coming,

Lorraine gave me a lift with the cutting back on Mescar so we did from Peg 1 to 4 and will continue this as time allows,

It will look barren going into winter but will all grow back next spring,

Lorraine also got to meet Joe and the hawk yesterday as he continues to train her around the field at the front and reservoir,

All lakes are more or less full now and the reservoir is also filling up nicely again now we have stopped pumping water from it,

Oxygen levels on all 3 lakes good this morning and the currenty temperatures are as below:

Mescar 15.5oc
Marin 14.5oc
Mistral 15.3oc

We have the Open match on Mistral today so that's not available for our members to fish but Mescar and Marin both are,

The cafe is open as per usual and Lorraine will be taking orders up until 13:00pm

Morning,

Only a quick one today as I play catch up from the last few days,

Geoff has done a great job ticking off the jobs I left him in my absence and all 3 lakes looking good and he shifted some gravel yesterday filling in the area we are going to use to feed the Muscovy duck,

He has also trimmed the hedges coming into the fishery so all look good ! (Many thanks Geoff as I was able to get a a lot done at home in those 3 days)

Oxygen levels were good this morning and the water temperatures are currently:

Mescar 15.8oc
Marin 15.5oc
Mistral 16oc

We have the Club match on Marin today so that is not available to fish but Mescar and Mistral are both available for our members,

The members who braved the rain this morning are dotted around Mescar and Mistral finding shelter from the forecasted winds,

Lorraine is here today and tomorrow in the cafe if anybody does fancy a bite to eat,

Hopefully those fishing today will get into a few fish and keep dry :)

As I am not onsite I had to zoom in on the cameras to get a photo for todays match report at the weighing in,

We had 9 anglers fish the Wednesday Open match on Marin today and I have no idea what the winners fished this week but I have the result :)

1st) Lee Clancy (Leigh Tackle & Bait) - 134lb 4oz - Peg 12
2nd) Dave Cheetham (BAS) - 90lb 10oz - Peg 25
3rd) Phil Henry (Parkfield Angling) - 81lb 11oz - Peg 6
4th) Colin Cook (Parkfield Angling) - 63lb 4oz - Peg 37

We weighed in a total of 560lb 7oz with 1 angling DNW

Good evening,

Well I have managed to get most of the boulders in place and the area I have been working on ready for when the pea grit is delivered on Friday,

The plan will be to fill the lower section with pea grit and level it off then use the area as the Muscovy feeding area,

Think I will be aching tomorrow :)

Managed to get the grass at the top of the track cut and strimmed this afternoon so at least it still looks nice and tidy at the top when you arrive.

Please remember the track is 10mph to protect it going into winter so adhere to the speed limit.

We had a few members fishing today and everybody has had a good day on all 3 lakes so it was worth getting the early soaking this morning,

Tomorrow we have the weekly Open match on Marin lake so that won't be available to fish but Mescar and Mistral are both available for our members,

Lorraine is back tomorrow and the cafe will be open from 7.30am if anybody fancies anything to eat,

Geoff will also be onsite covering me for 3 days whilst I catch up on some jobs at home and see the wife,

Geoff will have the fishery phone if you need anything and I will be looking in on Facebook for messages, etc regarding the Open match on Sunday,

I will update any match results on my return :)

I have shifted some stone today and we have shaped the area and will backfill the lower part with Pea grit which is arriving on Friday. the area will then be used to feed the Muscovy
