Gainsborough Trinity Tournament 2026 ⚫️🔴⚽️
After reaching the final of this tournament last summer, the boys were keen to return and once again test themselves against some of the best teams from around the county.
We arrived with just nine players available, with Ted Fawzi from our Green team kindly coming along to help the boys out — a huge thank you to Ted! 👏
The boys started brightly, winning their opening game and going on to finish joint top of their group, earning their place in the Champions League competition.
That set up a quarter-final against fellow group winners Woodhouse Colts, and once again the Louth boys came out on top to book their place in the semi-final.
Waiting for us there was a side who had won every one of their group games convincingly and, incredibly, had yet to face a single shot on their goal all day! The boys weren’t fazed by the obvious quality of their opponents and produced an excellent performance, dominating large parts of the game and giving them by far their toughest test of the tournament.
After 20 minutes, the score remained locked at 0–0 and a place in the final would be decided by penalties. Unfortunately, this time it wasn’t to be for us.
Congratulations to Woodhouse Colts, who went on to win the tournament, and a big thank you to their manager for his kind words afterwards, telling us that we were by far the biggest test they’d faced all day. A fantastic compliment to the boys and their performance. 👏
That brings our summer tournament season to an end — and what a positive one it’s been! Across the tournaments we’ve entered, we’ve reached at least the semi-final every time, made a final and, of course, lifted a trophy as Tournament Winners just a few weeks ago. 🏆
Huge credit must go to the boys, particularly today when we were really down to the bare bones. They kept playing our football, competed brilliantly and once again showed just how far this group has come.
Attention now turns towards the start of the league season next month. We’ve already produced some very impressive performances in pre-season, mostly against teams from higher divisions, and with everyone available for selection, it genuinely feels like we’ve never been stronger.
Lots to look forward to. Exciting times ahead! 🔴⚫️
