We had a great LETC turnout for the Cowman Triathlon series from Big Cow Events! Mark, Micky, Sue, Josh and Liz tackled the Olympic distance "Calfman", Nikki did the Bike/Run (she's coming back from injury), and Leah and Steve did the Sprint distance "Stampede". Great results, with Josh coming 5th overall, Nikki winning her event, Leah coming second, and Liz coming third! Here's what some of the team had to say.
Sue: "Was a great race! Really loved it; super friendly and lovely location, great road surface too."
Micky: "Well organised event, nice area to be in. Swim was nice although shallow in places. The bike was nice with rolling hills, road surface good, only criticism was the two feet down 400m from the mount line was congested and a short dismount area. Run was nice with some steady inclines, and a mix of road and trail back into the country park."
Nikki: "Well organised, small friendly race. Roads were in good condition and the run was really enjoyable, well, the downhill second half bit anyway 🤣! Would recommend 👍"
Mark: "Great event in a lovely huge park with loads of lakes. Yes, shallow in spots but this gave me chance to stop and de-fog me goggs. Bit of a chore getting up the ramp with a dodgy knee as I nearly went back in!
Excellent road surfaces (can tell you’re dahn saarf!). A nice mix of terrain on the run which was ok for road shoes. (Trail shoes if wet).
Very well marshalled and sign posted, although the compere at the start briefing didn’t even know which way we were to swim… so didn’t fill you with much confidence (the benefit of being slow, you follow everyone else).
I’d do it again! The only gripes I had was the price of the fish and chips at the pub; the fish must have been that fresh it had eaten my chips! And I didn’t get time to look around the co-located classic Ford Granada show.
On the whole, a great little season-end Tri!👍🏻"
Leah: "Entered a bit last minute, but I'm so glad I did. The swim was nice (not too weedy) calm lake, although I had no clue where I was going as I couldn’t see the course before the start. On to the bike, after the mandatory 2 foot down stop at the start, the course became a slightly undulating but quick course with some nice down hill sections. The 20km seemed to fly by and then onto the run. This was on path and trails, and I really enjoyed the second half which was definitely downhill. It was a great course with great support, and loved having so many from the club there. I was so pleased to come 2 lady overall and get a nice bottle of wine as part of the prize!"
Steve: “Great venue, well organised and friendly marshalls. Lake swim was great except for grounding once. Bike was smooth tarmac with rolling hills and well signposted. Enjoyed the mixture of terrain on the run.
Bad bits: camping was quite away from the facilities, no showers or toilets nearby.”
Well done everyone! 🏃🏊🚴♀️🏆🏅
