Surrender shouldnāt be forced
When you sink into Eka Pada Rajakapotasana (King Pigeon Pose), your mind immediately wants to control the narrative. It calculates the depth, grips around tight hips, and tries to force the heart forward.
This is where Ishvara Pranidhanaāthe practice of surrender to something greaterāturns a physical stretch into a full-body release.
Surrender in King Pigeon doesnāt mean giving up; it means dropping the agenda. Itās releasing the need to achieve a āpicture-perfectā shape and trusting the intelligence of your breath to carry you where you need to be.
When you yield the illusion of control, the body stops fighting itself. The backbend stops being a force and becomes a flood.
True embodiment happens the moment you stop trying to master the posture and let the posture unravel you.
Achieving a strong, spacious Wheel Pose (Urdhva Dhanurasana) isnāt about forcing your lower back into a deep archāitās about actively dropping the physical armor we build up during the week and getting back into your body.
To lift up cleanly, we have to transition out of our daily ādefensive hunchā and teach the front body to open while the back body fires up.
When you let go of that grip, your breath deepens, your chest opens, and the mental chatter stops. You shift from bracing against your week to feeling entirely grounded in your own skin.
Because true heart-opening only happens when your foundation feels completely stable.
So often with the splits, we get fixated on the floor. We measure our progress in inches, constantly asking: āAm I down yet?ā
But the real magic of this shape has nothing to do with touching the ground. Itās about what happens when you anchor down your awareness.
When you stop trying to escape the intense sensation and instead drop your mind straight into your hipsāwhen you root your presence into the breath and send weight intentionally into your baseāthe entire pose changes.
Showing up for the splits this week isnāt about landing the perfect shape. Itās about the practice of staying grounded right where you are:
-Root your attention: Feel the exact points of your body connecting with the mat.
-Breathe into the tension: Instead of pulling back, anchor your focus in the deep stretch and let your body learn that itās safe here.
-Redefine progress: Hovering two inchesāor two feetāabove the floor with total presence is infinitely more powerful than forcing yourself down while holding your breath.
You donāt need to reach the floor to feel the release. Anchor your mind down into the posture, let go of the target, and let the opening happen naturally. š§āāļø

To truly embody Dancer Pose (Natarajasana) isnāt about snapping a perfect picture. Itās about discovering the delicate balance of effort and easeāSthira Sukham Asanam. š§āāļøāØ
To embody this pose is to stop fighting the shake and instead make that exact moment your focus and your meditation. When you tip into the intensity without tension, you step out of your head and land fully into your body.
Next week in our āGet Embodiedā series, Dancer Pose is our peak focus! Weāll explore this moving meditation together step-by-step, wobble by wobble.

People talk a lot about mindsets, habits, and goals... but how often do we actually check in with the vessel carrying us through it all?
In this space, weāre stepping out of our heads and landing firmly into our bodies.
Itās a practice of coming home to yourself...moving from thinking about your life to actually feeling itālistening to the subtle cues, the breath, the tension, and the quiet wisdom your body holds.
Drop a š¤ in the comments if youāre ready to GET EMBODIED with us.
