Ealing Hockey Club

Congratulations to our @ Ealing Boys' team, who battled hard on a hot Saturday against some fierce competition. Our boys' team mostly comprised Year 7s so they were at a height disadvantage to say the least! Playing in Group B, they met tough opponents in the Lambeth, Lewisham, Wandsworth and Camden teams. GK Layth made a dramatic last minute penalty save to secure a draw in their final group game vs Camden. They drew two and lost two games before going through to the Plate Competition where they won their first match 3-0, followed by a draw and a loss.
Well done boys for showing grit and determination during a long day of hockey in the sun!

London Youth Games Girls' Hockey, report by TM Jem
An impressive LYG squad composed of Abi, Betty, Cleo, Edie, Elena, Jess, Leia, Maika and Nalini, with a small army of vocal supporters, braved the early Sunday morning tube journey to the Lee Valley Hockey Centre for the annual GU14 London Youth Games.
Ealing started slowly against Wandsworth, going a goal down in the first minute, but soon got into their stride with 3 excellently taken goals. We were up and running! The result against an inexperienced Tower Hamlets side was never in doubt however, and 4 goals including a hat-trick from Elena came easily enough in the end, our defence rarely troubled.
Ealing then saw out a cagey 0-0 draw against Redbridge, before securing top-spot in the group with exactly the 2-goal margin they needed against Havering.
The draw for the afternoon cup competition always felt like a tough one. Harrow were first up, and this time an early goal cost Ealing dear. Despite dominating possession and coming close numerous times, Ealing could not recover the deficit and had lost a crucial match. The girls bounced back with a deserved win against Richmond but faced a massive challenge against reigning champions Lewisham in the next match. After conceding early, Ealing’s chances were not helped by the award of a penalty stroke, duly converted. Elena pulled one back with a fierce drive from wide, but the ever-dangerous opposition had the final say. With other results going against them, Ealing had only pride to play for in the final game. Leia put Ealing ahead but concerted pressure from Merton eventually paid off, a deserved equaliser coming a few minutes before the end after a string of saves from Abi. Leia scored what would have been the winner only moments after the final whistle.
In the end, Ealing finished third in its trophy pool, a creditable fifth overall.
A big thank you to the girls, parents, Jeff, Molly and superstar supporter Mia for making it an enjoyable day. And best of luck to next year’s LYG squad!

Congratulations to our second nomination for the Ealing Sports Awards 2026, our Young Leader Izzy, who won 'Junior Volunteer of the Year'. Izzy not only volunteers with Ealing Hockey Club, but is also a LYG33 Sports Lead. Izzy was unfortunately unable to make the ceremony, so Chairman Jeff collected the gorgeous glass trophy alongside a LYG Representative.

On Tuesday evening Ealing Hockey Club were invited to the Ealing Sports Awards 2026 hosted in the Ada Lovelace CofE High School Performance Centre.
The Ealing Sports Awards is a very special evening celebrating sporting success across the borough throughout the year. The awards recognise the commitment, talent and achievements of Ealing's sports clubs and highlight inspirational volunteers, coaches and sportspeople.
The evening was hosted by the talented Peter Gordon with special guests Donna Fraser OBE and Myrtle Augee MBE.
We nominated two of our Club members for awards this year and both were shortlisted. We are pleased to announce that our Club Secretary, Dale was awarded 'Adult Volunteer of the Year'. We already knew how amazing he is and now he has a trophy to prove it!

Club Day Out to FIH at Lee Valley! Last Saturday 40 Ealing Hockey Club members hit the Elizabeth Line for a fantastic day trip to watch England's Women and Men take on Spain and Pakistan. The atmosphere was electric and the hockey was inspirational. Our younger club members got some autographs and chatted pitchside to their hockey heroes. Chairman Jeff even had a little boogie to Bon Jovi 🍻😉!
Looking forward to next year's trip already!

Bad news 😢- this Sunday 5th July is our last junior Sunday hockey in our Summer Season. It's gone sooooo fast...🚀
Good news 🤩- Jeff and Gary will be taking the Ealing boys' and girls' London Youth Games hockey teams to Lee Valley this weekend for some exciting inter-borough hockey game fun! It's going to be a hot one - lets hope they get to run under the water sprays on the Olympic pitch! 💦
