Something we have been working on for a while is now live, and if you work with IBS clients, or want to, this one is for you.
On 17–18 July, we are running a two-day specialist workshop, Certificate in Hypno-CBT® for IBS, with Dr Elena Eliadou. Elena (Gutbrainmetamorphosis) is a consultant gastroenterologist and Hypno-CBT® practitioner who has spent over a decade working with IBS patients, and she has built this training from that clinical experience.
The assessment frameworks, the formulation tools, the risk stratification criteria - all of it comes from real practice.
This workshop is open to Hypno-CBT® practitioners. Limited left for this first cohort.

Big news today.
Professor Donald Meichenbaum — one of the founders of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and the creator of Stress Inoculation Training — has agreed to chair our Senior Advisory Board.
Don is one of the most influential psychotherapists of the 20th century. He is also one of the most rigorous critics of hype in our field, having co-authored a famous checklist of warning signs for exaggerated claims in psychotherapy. That is precisely why we approached him.
Our relationship has been building since 2021, when he delivered a workshop on trauma and resilience for the College. Since then we have produced his legacy course series “The Essence of Psychotherapy” together and built his website.
Today’s announcement is the formal expression of a partnership that has been real for years.
For our students and graduates: this is a further sign that the foundation you have trained on stands up to examination by someone with no reason to be generous.

Non-duality and East-meets-West psychotherapy.
A delicious conversation with dear colleague and friend Dr Christopher Wallis -- just released on his podcast, Ta**ra Illuminated.
I've known Christopher for over 30 years. He is a leading scholar of Kashmir Shaivism -- the most exquisite life-affirming non-dual philosophy of India -- and his book Ta**ra Illuminated is a modern spiritual classic that has sold more than 50,000 copies.
Nearly two hours. Deep discussion.
We talked about stilling the mind -- not as a philosophical aspiration but as a teachable, practical skill. Relax the vocal muscles, and the mind quietens. That simple.
We discussed Andrew Salter's model of disinhibition.
Inhibition is not merely the holding back of feeling. It is the whole organism holding back from life. The person drives through life with the brakes on permanently. Therapy, in part, is learning to "unbrake" the nervous system and let it run as nature intended.
We discussed agency and Bandura's four steps to self-efficacy.
How we "other" ourselves -- and the tragedy of living a life as an object not just for others but for ourselves.
And a fresh pragmatist reading of Abhinavagupta -- the 10th-century Kashmiri philosopher -- that I have been working with for a long time.
And we returned, more than once, to imagination. The rehearsal of new simulated possibilities is the only route through which conditioning actually changes.
Listen carefully and you will pick up practical ways to stop the mind, free yourself from conditioning, and embrace your deepest, truest nature.
Part Two is coming soon!
Hypno-CBT® -- de-hypnosis and strategic imagination.
