When did putting yourself first become something to feel guilty about? 👀
Especially as women, mums and leaders, we’re so used to putting everyone else first.
Our children.
Our teams.
Our businesses.
Our families.
And somewhere at the bottom of that very long list… us.
But I’ve started to look at the idea of being “selfish” differently.
Putting yourself first sometimes doesn’t mean you care about other people any less.
It means recognising that you can’t keep pouring from an empty cup 🩷
When I’m mentally fit, I have more headspace to recognise what the people around me need.
I’m more present with my children.
I show up better in my relationships.
I’m a better leader in my business.
So yes, sometimes I WILL say no.
Sometimes I’ll see my friends.
Sometimes I’ll book the massage.
Sometimes I’ll choose myself.
Not because the people around me matter less.
Because I know I’ll have more to give them when I come back. 🔋
Putting yourself first sometimes isn’t selfish.
It can actually be one of the kindest things you do - for yourself and for everyone who relies on you.
🎥 In this Q&A, I share where I believe the line sits between self-preservation and selfishness.
Do you find it difficult to put yourself first without feeling guilty? 👇

Leadership development should never be a tick-box exercise. It should change the way leaders think, lead and perform 🚀
The best leadership programmes don’t just build more confident leaders. They create stronger relationships, better conversations, greater alignment and teams that can navigate change with clarity while continuing to drive performance.
When leaders have the headspace to lead, everything changes.
✨ People perform better.
✨ Teams collaborate better.
✨ Decisions improve.

How high is your Stress-O-Meter right now? 🌡️🧠
Stress has a habit of creeping up on us.
One more deadline.
One more meeting.
One more thing that has to get done.
Until constantly operating at full capacity starts to feel completely normal.
This is something I talk about on stage a lot, and it's exactly why I use my Stress-O-Meter.
When your stress levels are constantly sitting at the top, you don't just feel tired.
Your thinking changes.
Your patience changes.
Your ability to be present changes.
And eventually, you're no longer consciously leading your life... you're reacting to it.
That's not how you become the CEO of your life.
🧠 Mental Fitness is about recognising when that Stress-O-Meter is creeping up and having the tools to manage your mind, your energy and your response before you hit breaking point.
It's also why I teach the 80% Rule.
You don't need to operate at 100%, 100% of the time to be a high performer.
In fact, learning when to pull back might be exactly what allows you to perform better when it really matters. 💥
🎤 This is one of the messages I'm passionate about taking into organisations - helping leaders and teams build the Mental Fitness to perform at a high level without running themselves into the ground.
👉 If your leaders are operating under constant pressure, let's equip them with the practical tools to manage it before stress starts managing them.

Some days, showing up feels effortless.
Other days...
You don't feel like yourself.
You're exhausted.
Even getting out of bed can feel harder than usual.
As leaders, we often convince ourselves we just need to push through.
But what if there's more going on?
Hormones can have a huge impact on our energy, confidence, focus and emotional resilience... yet it's something we rarely talk about in leadership.
Ignoring it doesn't make you a stronger leader.
Understanding it does.
It means recognising what you need to perform at your best.
Have you ever found yourself questioning your ability as a leader, when actually your body was asking you to slow down?
Are you being too nice to be an effective leader?
It's a question I ask leaders all the time.
Because there's a big difference between being nice and being kind.
A nice leader wants everyone to be happy.
They avoid difficult conversations.
They lower expectations.
They carry everyone else's workload.
They become the fixer.
They say yes when they really mean no.
It feels like the right thing to do...
Until it isn't.
A kind leader does something different.
They create psychological safety and accountability.
They set clear expectations.
They hold healthy boundaries.
They address underperformance with compassion.
They lean into uncomfortable conversations because they know that's where growth happens.
Being nice might make you popular in the short term.
Being kind helps your people become the best version of themselves.
Sometimes, the kindest thing you can do as a leader is have the conversation you've been avoiding.
💬 Have you ever caught yourself falling into the "nice leader" trap?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned in life AND leadership…
You either win… or you learn.
I absolutely loved sharing this message on stage at Business Mania. 🎤💥
I don’t believe great leaders get everything right.
I certainly haven’t. 😅
What matters is what you do when things don’t go to plan.
Can you reflect on it?
Can you learn from it?
Can you take that lesson and do something differently next time?
That shift in mindset is HUGE.
When we stop being terrified of getting things wrong, we give ourselves permission to take action, have a go and keep growing. 🧠
And THAT is why I love being on stage.
There’s nothing better than a room full of ambitious people, challenging the way they think and creating those lightbulb moments they can actually take back into their businesses. 🚀

Every time I step off stage, the same thing happens...
A woman will come over to me.
Sometimes she's smiling.
Sometimes she's emotional.
Sometimes she's carrying a weight that nobody else can see.
She'll tell me about the burnout.
The pressure.
The constant juggle.
The feeling that she's holding everything together for everyone else.
And then, almost without fail, she'll ask me the same question...
"How can I keep learning from you?"
Or...
"What's next?"
"How can I work with you?"
For years, I never had a good answer.
I'd walk away wishing I could continue supporting these incredible women, but I didn't have a place to send them.
Until now.
For the past few months, I've been quietly building something I've wanted to create for a long time.
A space for ambitious women who want to lead with confidence, protect their mental fitness, and become the CEO of their life - not just their business.
Because I believe you shouldn't have to choose between success and your wellbeing.
I'm so excited to finally share it with you.
👀 Keep your eyes peeled over the next few weeks...
I think you're going to love what's coming.
If this sounds like something you've been waiting for, follow along and share this post with someone who'd love to be part of it.
Do you know someone planning an event?
A conference.
A leadership event.
A company away day.
A sales kick-off.
A team conference.
I'd love an introduction.
I'm passionate about helping leaders think differently, engage 100% of their people and create extraordinary results without sacrificing themselves in the process.
Every session is packed with practical tools, real stories and plenty of energy, because learning should be memorable, engaging and actually change behaviour.
Take a look at my showreel to get a feel for what I bring to the stage.
If someone came to mind while reading this, I'd love you to tag them below 👇
We're living in a world that celebrates giving 100%.
100% effort.
100% availability.
100% of the time.
But what if that's exactly what's leading so many brilliant leaders towards burnout?
For years, I believed that working harder meant leading better.
It didn't.
It left me exhausted, constantly chasing the next thing, and believing that slowing down somehow meant I wasn't doing enough.
One of the biggest mindset shifts I've ever made is embracing The 80% Rule.
Because here's what I've learned:
80% is enough... 99% of the time.
Not because excellence doesn't matter.
But because sustainable leadership does.
When you're constantly running at 100%, there's nothing left in the tank for the moments that genuinely need your best.
The leaders I work with aren't trying to do less.
They're learning how to lead better.
I'd love to know...
Have you ever felt guilty for not giving 100%?
