🐟 Fin Facts – Pollack 🐟
Pollack are one of the most popular and accessible species for UK anglers 🇬🇧, found all along the coastline from rocky reefs to wrecks and kelp beds 🌊. Recognisable by their olive-green backs and silver sides ✨, they’re fast, agile, and a lot of fun on the rod!

Baits that work best are natural and lively. 🐟 Mackerel, squid 🦑, peeler crab 🦀, and ragworm 🪱 will all get results on their day. Pollack love to cruise structure, so fishing near rocks, reefs, or wrecks will often bring bites 🎣 Lure fishing for pollack is also incredible fun and really demonstrates the fighting power of these strong, slender fish.

They may not grow huge in the UK, but they fight hard for their size 💪 Expect fast runs, quick dives, and plenty of head shakes!

Keep an eye out for those tell-tale lugworm casts on sandy beaches! 👀

Fresh lugworm remains one of the most reliable baits available to shore anglers and is often responsible for catching fish when other baits fail. From flatfish and whiting to school bass and other small to medium-sized species, lugworm has a habit of producing bites when conditions are tough. 🐟

If you're fishing a sandy beach, take a few moments to look for fresh casts. Not only can they reveal where lugworm are present, but they could also provide you with a bait that local fish are already feeding on naturally. 🌊

When all else fails, a fresh lugworm bait is often a great place to start, but only ever take what you need. 🎯
