One of the things that surprises couples most is the questions I ask.

They often arrive expecting me to focus on the affair, the rows, the communication breakdown or the crisis that brought them through the door. Instead, I ask questions that can seem almost insignificant.

How do you say goodbye in the morning?

Who reaches out first after a disagreement?

When you’re sitting together in the evening, do you naturally gravitate towards one another or spend your time in separate worlds?

Do you sleep peacefully beside each other, or lie awake carrying worries you no longer feel able to share?

Every answer paints a picture.

Those small moments tell me far more about the health of a relationship than the big events ever could. They reveal where the emotional connection has weakened, where resentment has taken root, where hope still exists, and how much work is needed to help two people find their way back to each other.

Many couples assume they have a communication problem.

In reality, communication is usually the symptom, not the cause.

Our work is to gently uncover what sits beneath it. The unspoken hurts. The unmet needs. The protective behaviours that once kept someone safe but are now keeping them apart.

This is why our approach is holistic rather than clinical.

We don’t believe in simply teaching techniques or asking couples to repeat scripts. We help people understand themselves, understand each other, and understand why they have arrived where they are today. Once that understanding is in place, we can create the right tools, support and pathway for them to move forwards.

For many couples, that means rebuilding a stronger, healthier and more connected relationship than they thought was possible.

Occasionally, it means recognising that the kindest outcome is to part with dignity, respect and compassion. If that is the right path, we help them navigate it in a way that minimises unnecessary hurt and allows both people to move forwards as healthily as possible.

People often ask me if every relationship can be saved.

My answer is simple.

If both people are willing to take responsibility, show up authentically, leave the past where it belongs, and commit to doing the work with love, courage and good intention, then there is almost always hope.

Relationships are one of the most complex and profound parts of being human. They shape our happiness, our confidence, our health, our families and even our success at work.

Yet we receive almost no education on how to build, nurture or repair them.

Perhaps it’s time we changed that.

Delighted that we will be speaking and having a space at this exhibition all about wellbeing. Come along meet us and have a chat to find out more about the work we do.

Have you got the The Suss*x Health & Wellbeing Show in your diary? Alongside the many expert exhibitors, we'll have some engaging and informative talks and workshops. Here's one!

Meet Geneviève Gresset, serial entrepreneur, relationship expert, coach and founder of The Lounge, the award-winning women’s wellbeing and community space in the heart of Uckfield, Suss*x.

With more than three decades of experience helping people build healthier, happier relationships, Genevieve is one of only 12 Master Certified Matchmakers globally. Ahe's an ICF-qualified coach, media contributor, and relationship expert featured on Married at First Sight UK and currently filming a second season of a new Relationship show focused on changing behaviours and breaking patterns. She's worked with individuals, couples, businesses and high-profile clients across the UK, Europe and the USA, helping people better understand communication, emotional connection, confidence, intimacy and what truly creates lasting relationships personally and professionally.

She says: "After years of seeing women quietly lose themselves through burnout, hormonal challenges, PCSO, endometriosis and menopause as well as loneliness, confidence struggles, and relationship breakdowns, I established The Lounge as more than just a venue, it's a space where women can reconnect with themselves and each other. A place for honest conversations, support, healing, laughter, and growth. Somewhere women could walk into and simply exhale."

Genevieve joins the fabulous Kathryn Colas for their talk, 'Menopause & Relationships, Everything You Need to Know', bringing warmth, honesty, humour and practical relationship insight to one of the most important conversations women are having right now.

Together, they’ll explore the real impact menopause can have on confidence, identity, attraction, intimacy, communication, emotional wellbeing, and relationships, both with ourselves and the people we love.

Expect expert insight, relatable stories, straight-talking conversation, a few laughs, and the kind of evening that makes you feel seen, understood, and empowered.

Watch out for how to book this very special session in our Health Hub at 11am on 27 June.

I was on Radio last week talking about being friends with Ex’s and the pro’s and cons. But it’s not just ex’s that can create problems, it’s friends of the same and opposite s*x and my message is clear.

Friends of any s*x are great if they add value and are not looking to de-value your relationship or your sanity or have other intentions.

If they do then you need to think long and hard about if the friendship has run its course.

Relationships are hard enough without friendships adding in a further layer of complexity. And it’s not just friendships of the opposite s*x so be mindful of that.

Ask yourself these questions:

1, is it positive, as the conversations positive, uplifting, supportive or negative, fault finding and leaving you questioning things?

2, is it more take than give? Not all friendships are equal and we go through times where we take more than we give but on the whole does it feel measured or do you feel used?

3, how do other people around you feel about the friendship? Have they noticed things you have forgiven or brushed off? Sometimes we can’t see things as we have a different filter.

I don’t usually offer this privately…

But before I go back into filming, I’ve opened up a couple of one-to-one sessions this Bank Holiday.

And if you’ve been single for a while and quietly wondering why it’s not working…
this might be exactly what you need.

I’m going to be honest with you.

Most people aren’t single because there are “no good people left.”

They’re single because:

* they’re repeating patterns they can’t see
* they’re drawn to the same type (who can’t meet them)
* or their expectations are unknowingly working against them

And until that becomes clear… nothing really changes.

I’ve spent over 30 years as a matchmaker and relationship coach, and you might recognise me from Married at First Sight UK (Season 5) — one of the most successful seasons for long-term matches.

I’m also one of only a handful of Master Certified Matchmakers worldwide, trained by and now training others through, the Global Love Institute.

So this isn’t guesswork.
It’s pattern recognition at a level most people never get access to.

The Dating MOT

A private, one-to-one deep dive into:

* what’s actually been happening in your dating life
* what might be getting in your way
* and what needs to shift if you want a different result

No fluff. No judgement. Just clarity.

Because here’s the reality:

You can keep hoping the next person will be different…
or you can finally understand why it hasn’t worked so far.

I only have a couple of spaces before I step away again,
and I don’t tend to offer this kind of access outside of my programmes.

So if this has hit a nerve (it usually does when it’s relevant),
message me “MOT” and I’ll send you the details.

Right. Let’s not tiptoe around this.

Relationship stress doesn’t usually explode overnight.
It creeps in quietly. Through tone. Through silence. Through “I’m fine” when you’re clearly not.

And if you’re honest… you already know whether something feels off.

Here’s a quick 3-question check-in. No drama. Just truth.

1️⃣ Do you feel more alone in your relationship than you would if you were single?
If the answer is yes, that’s not independence. That’s emotional disconnection.

2️⃣ Are the same arguments on repeat, just with different words?
Different day. Same tension. Same unresolved core issue.

3️⃣ Have you stopped talking about how you really feel because it “never changes anything”?
That’s not peace. That’s resignation.

If you said yes to even one of these, coaching isn’t a last resort.
It’s leadership.

Strong couples don’t avoid support.
They use it early.

Coaching isn’t about blame.
It’s about clarity.
It’s about learning how to communicate without tearing each other down.
It’s about understanding the patterns neither of you were taught to see.

And here’s the uncomfortable truth:
If you don’t change the pattern, the pattern will decide the future for you.

You wouldn’t ignore a business issue until it collapsed.
Don’t do that with your relationship.

If you’re curious whether coaching could make a real difference, message me the word RESET and I’ll send you a short relationship clarity questionnaire.

No pressure.
Just honesty.

Because love should feel safe, connected and steady, not exhausting.
