What are terpenes?

Terpenes are the essential oils of the h**p plant, the aromatic oils responsible for the different flavours of cannabis (you have probably heard of ones like mint, pine and berry).

Our most prominent natural terpenes and why they’re good for you?

1) Alpha-Pinene: like its sibling, beta-Pinene (also included in our products), alpha-Pinene is most famous for its anti-inflammatory benefits. These are helpful for diseases like arthritis, Crohn’s and multiple sclerosis. Studies also suggest alpha-Pinene can stop tumour growth and supplement chemotherapy treatments.

2) Beta-Myrcene: this terpene is ideal for patients suffering from sleep disorders such as insomnia.

3) Beta-Caryophyllene: due to its unique ability to bind with CB2 receptors,
beta-Caryophyllene has potent anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antibacterial, and antioxidant properties. It is known to help relieve anxiety and pain, reduce cholesterol, prevent Osteoporosis and treat seizures.

4) Alpha-Humelene: Humulene does it all, but works best against bacteria, inflammation and tumours. A potent pain reliever.

If you or your loved one had Parkinson’s disease (PD) would you try medical (MC) as a treatment option?

German researchers conducted a questionnaire-based survey among members of the German Parkinson Association on their general knowledge and interest in MC.

1.348 questionnaires were analysed and the results:

· 15% had tried MC in their life, of those 13.9% were regular and 32.2% were occasional users, while 42.6% have tried it only once

· MC users reported >40% reduction in pain/muscle cramps, >20% improvement in stiffness/akinesia, freezing, tremor, depression, anxiety and restless legs syndrome

· Among the 113 MC users: 9.7% used only, 39.8% only and 20.4% used both (17.7% did not know, 12.4% did not report)

· MC users used mainly liquids/drops (47.8%) alone or in combination with MC (59.3%)

· MC use was generally tolerated in 85% of users, 36.3% reported side effects, the most common being fatigue (54%), dizziness (37%) and ravenous appetite (22%)

· Fear of physical and/or psychological addiction was affirmed by 6.7% of MC users and 45.6% of non-users

Hopefully in the future, many PD patients will have the opportunity to try MC, giving use much needed data for identifying the most efficacious therapies.

Huge, huge, huge win for the CBD industry today with the Court of Justice of the European Union portraying their consistent belief that CBD is not harmful and remains outside of a narcotic category.

"The referring court explains that CBD does not appear to have any ‘recognised psychoactive effects’. Indeed, it notes that the World Health Organization (WHO), in a 2017 report, recommended removing it from the list of doping substances, that CBD is not listed as such in the Single Convention, (...) Moreover, CBD is not expressly referred to either in the texts applying to industrial h**p or in those relating to cannabis as a narcotic drug."
