A course update from Glyn ✨ heading for the north tip of Madagascar before turning towards Kenya, but the winds and currents have slowed progress a little so this is very forward planning!

Billy, Lara, Glyn and Susannah are rowing 5500 miles from Australia to Kenya, aiming to be the first ever mixed team and the first ever women to row across the Indian Ocean. They are rowing for two charities that mean a lot to them - and . Every donation helps and makes a difference to the morale of the team, so please show them your support and donate via the link in bio!

It seems the wildlife heard ... a whole load of Dorado followed the good ship Monkey Fist yesterday! 💙 thousands of miles from land is a lonely place to be, so the company of these fish helps a little and is a welcome distraction from the monotony of rowing.

For the first half of the crossing, the Indian Ocean hasn't brought much wildlife. Sadly, instead, there's been a lot of pollution 💔 Billy has got a few funny stories though of the notorious flying fish .. 👀

A historic moment.. the biggest reward of halfway was brand new seats! ✨ Those poor cushions have been sat on all day every day for 44 days, and as you can see they are salty and squished!

HALFWAY ACROSS THE INDIAN OCEAN!!!

2274NM rowed • 2272NM to go

What a mammoth achievement that is! Six unrelenting weeks at sea that have tested the team in every sense, and they have finally crossed the halfway point!

This deserves some celebration 🍻🥂 obviously they aren't drinking beers or bubbly, but they'd love you to share their celebrations by sharing their story and their causes, or even better by donating to the fundraiser!

Thank you to everyone who has already donated, and of course to every sponsor.

Big day coming tomorrow...

Six weeks spent rowing the Indian Ocean, and the halfway point is almost in sight!

Conditions are fine - not flat but not too choppy.
Some more wind and speed would be nice!

Spirits are good, although with the boost of another milestone they're bound to pick up.

Fundraiser is low; the team are taking on this gruelling challenge for and with the goal of raising £500k. Please send a donation in - they're doing the leg work so please support!

Ocean rowing has its ups and downs ... There is sadly no controlling of the weather, yet it has such a huge impact on progress and therefore - and understandably - morale. All that can be done is to carry on; a true test of resilience. Sometimes you need to wallow in the frustrations, but either way, that next rowing shift is still calling!

Barnacles grow on the bottom of the hull, and they grow quickly! Their reproduction is faster in slower moving water, and they stick out on the bottom, increasing drag and therefore slowing the boat down.

To remove them, someone needs to jump in and scrape them all off. Of course, the harness remains on so you're always safely tied to the boat. And best to have someone on deck on shark watch!

Would you jump into an ocean several kilometres deep?
