The Rapha Super-League continued last night at Otley Cycle Races, the famous Yorkshire criterium now organised by Paris-Roubaix winner and local legend Lizzie Deignan MBE.
The RCC had a night of highs and lows. The debut of National Champion stripes is always an exciting moment for riders and fans alike. But race favourite Matthew Bostock was forced to withdraw after a puncture, and Meg Barker just missed the podium, settling for a personal best of fourth place.
However, Ollie Wood proved why he is a world class rider in the closing laps, jumping from the peloton, past chasing riders and the majority of the leading group in the final lap, missing the final catch by only a few bike lengths. Tantalisingly close.
The effort brings him to second place in the Rapha Super-League and he and Meg now lead the British Cycling National Circuit Series.
It’s been a fairytale season for so far, stay tuned for more.

Double RCC victory at the National Criterium Championships 🔴⚪️🔵
Surrounded by the best British domestic and international riders and teams, these riders proved their class, strategic nous and strength at the moment it truly mattered.
Meg Barker won her race by the smallest of margins in the bunch sprint, backing herself until the final millisecond and taking the victory.
Matthew Bostock showed us how to ride like a champion, racing from the front and delivering an unstoppable finale.
Both riders have firmly earned their stripes. You’ll see them proudly on display at Otley Cycle Races on July 1st.
The National Road Championships will take place tomorrow, providing another opportunity for our RCC squad to shine. Watch live via the British Cycling YouTube channel.
