Most methods of contraception are available immediately after a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy. Women should be advised that any method of contraception can be safely initiated immediately.
Services providing care to women with ectopic pregnancy or miscarriage should give them opportunities to discuss their fertility intentions, contraception, and preconception planning.
A hormonal IUD (Eloira) can be fitted immediately if no infection is present. Insertion of LARCs immediately after miscarriage is both safe and practical.
