You feel tight and restricted in your Overhead, so you do more stretches, train and next day it feels the same again ☠️
As much as shoulders are complex, they aren’t the only area worth looking at when Overehead position is problematic, I notice more and more correlation between chest and other areas below the actual shoulders that create opposing tension and issues of range 😮💨
So maybe for once, stop looking and pulling at your shoulders alone and let’s look beyond that
When it comes to pecs (your chest), these are 3 key things worth knowing:
1) Tight pecs will pull your shoulders forward making it much more challenging for your shoulder blades to glide and get your arms by your ears in the first place
2) On the other hand, if your pecs are weak yet have a lot of stretch available (you can be moved into deep position but you can’t actively get there), you’re risking compensation elsewhere
3) Just stretching pecs is not gonna bring lasting range adaptations. Going back to what mobility is about, we have to prioritise strength and building Range of Motion gradually under loads and ranges you can control
So as much as pecs aren’t your pressing muscle by any means, your body cannot isolate itself and move one body part without tension affecting another, it’s a chain reaction that we have to address, especially if you tried everything else and yet still feel like your shoulders are going through the grinder every time you lift or do gymnastics..
I teach mobility for athletes who want to get unstuck in their training and carry on progressing in their sport, stick around, shoot questions, learn to move better

Chapter 4 - letting go and diving into the unknown..
What led into the very first thoughts of change and finding myself again in a brand new field. Learning that changing wasn’t going to define me, just build me differently
Goal is simple, for mobility training to add to your training not get in a way of it
Few things I notice people talking about when it comes to Overhead mobility and many only try to stretch more into it without looking at every muscle group that is involved. So let’s look at it together 🙏🏼
Follow for drills and education on mobility that is focused on helping people to understand their body instead of just follow a routine that doesn’t fit your needs nor schedule 🫠
