✨ NUTCRACKER MEMORY #1 — SOPHIE PASSANT ✨

Sophie danced in six WLSD Nutcrackers from 2016–2022, progressing from Dolls, Ribbon Girls and Icicles to Crystals, Mirlitons and finally Snow Queen. ❄️🩰

From learning choreography independently to working as part of a corps de ballet, rehearsing professionally and adapting to theatre spacing and technical rehearsals, Sophie says Nutcracker gave her skills she still relies on today.

She even took part in our Covid production, including a filmed Snow Scene and the postponed February performance! 🎄

Her story came full circle at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where she performed with Scottish Ballet in The Snow Queen and danced the Act I Sugar Plum Fairy solo from Peter Darrell’s Nutcracker to the same music she had danced to as a Doll in her first WLSD Nutcracker ten years earlier. ❤️

Thank you, Sophie, for sharing your memories and photographs!

Were you part of a WLSD Nutcracker over the past 30 years? Send your photos, roles and memories to [email protected] and tag your fellow dancers.

✨ 30 YEARS OF NUTCRACKER MEMORIES ✨

This year marks a very special milestone for West London School of Dance as we celebrate 30 years of our annual production of The Nutcracker. 🎄🩰

Over three decades, generations of WLSD pupils have grown up with Nutcracker — from their very first rehearsals and costumes, to the excitement backstage, the friendships made and those unforgettable moments stepping onto the stage.

As we prepare to celebrate this very special anniversary, we would love to hear from former WLSD pupils and families who have been part of our Nutcracker story over the years.

📸 Do you have an old Nutcracker photograph tucked away?

🩰 Can you remember the roles you danced?

✨ Do you have a favourite rehearsal, performance or backstage memory?

🎄 Were you a tiny Sugar-mouse or Party Kid who eventually grew up to dance one of the senior roles?

We would LOVE you to send us your photographs and memories so that we can celebrate the wonderful history of Nutcracker at WLSD.

Please email your memories and photographs to [email protected] including your name, approximately what year you performed and your role!

And please share this post and tag your old WLSD friends — after 30 years, we know our Nutcracker family stretches far and wide, and we would love to reconnect with as many of you as possible.

❤️ 30 years. Generations of dancers. A lifetime of Nutcracker memories.
