BERMUDA GOLD CUP UNVEILS EXPANDED 12-SKIPPER FIELD AND NEW FAREAST 28R FLEET

HAMILTON, Bermuda (24 August 2026) — The Royal Bermuda Yacht Club has closed invitations for the 2026 Bermuda Gold Cup and confirmed the field striving to win the King Edward VII Gold Cup, the oldest match racing trophy for one-design keelboats in the world. The regatta runs October 13-18 and will be the penultimate stage of the 2026 World Match Racing Tour before the Tour final in Saudi Arabia in November.

2026 DETROIT CUP 🏆

This weekend is Stage 11 of the World Match Racing Tour at the DETROIT CUP hosted by Bayview yacht Club, 20-23 August.

The 2026 Detroit Cup is the second stop on the USA GRAND SLAM series of four consecutive Grade 2 match events that starts with the Chicago Grand Slam held over August 14-16, followed by the Detroit Cup held over August 20-23, the Oakcliff International over August 27-30 in Oyster Bay, New York, and concluding at the Thompson Cup over September 1-4 at the same venue. The overall winning team of the 2026 GRAND SLAM series will receive an invitation to the 2027 Congressional Cup, the one of the oldest match racing trophies on the World Match Racing Tour and held over April 19 - May 3, 2027 in Long Beach, California.

(18 August 2026, Saudi Arabia) – The World Match Racing Tour makes its Saudi Arabian debut this November, with AMAALA Yacht Club set to host the 2026 World Match Racing Tour Finals and Women’s World Match Racing Tour Final Event.

For the first time, the final of the Women’s World Match Racing Tour, launched in 2022, will be staged back-to-back with the Open World Match Racing Tour Final. Both events will also offer a $200,000 prize purse, with the women’s event representing the largest prize ever offered for an all-female sailing event...

representing Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron (RNZYS) and team, winners of the 2026 Grade 2 Chicago Grand Slam, Stage 10 of the 2026 WMRT season. Hyde's win marks his first win at a World Match Racing Tour event 🏆👏

Hyde defeated USA's Christian Prendergast 3-0 in the final with Australia's Marcello Torre finshing in 3rd.
