Last night, Maurice Burton was invited and had the pleasure of watching The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind The Musical at Soho Place Theatre. What a brilliant performance by the entire cast and crew! 🎭👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

The production brought to life an inspiring true story and received a well deserved standing ovation from the audience.

Maurice was invited by the show’s producer to meet the cast and the man behind the story himself, William Kamkwamba. After a brief introduction, Maurice congratulated the performers on their outstanding work and had the opportunity to take some memorable photos together. 💛

The story of William Kamkwamba is truly remarkable. At just 14 years old, he built a windmill using spare parts and scrap materials he found at a rubbish dump, including parts from his father’s bicycle. Once completed, the windmill generated electricity for his family’s home.

William went on to help build additional windmills that provided clean drinking water and powered irrigation systems for crops in his village, transforming the lives of many people in his community.

A true hero, innovator and inspiration to young people everywhere. 🌍💡
