UK bakes in 35C highs as millions under hosepipe bans

The UK is set to bake in another day of 35C highs, with temperatures expected to

remain at heatwave level until the end of next week.

Five million people will be affected by hosepipe bans which have been announced

by four water companies in southern and eastern England, and others are closely

monitoring their supplies.

On Thursday temperatures exceeded 34C for the eighth day this year, breaking the

previous record of seven days over this peak, set in 1976 and 2020. This increased

to nine days including Friday's high of 34.7C in Coton in the Elms, Derbyshire.

Overnight five sites in England had a 'tropical night' where the temperatures

remained above 20C.

aillot jaune from Tadej Pogačar on stage 4. On a stage tipped for the breakaway,

Træen got away in a large bunch and finished close to 8 minutes up on the

Slovenian.
