A fantastic example of how the charity has broadened its remit was the introduction of our Community Dance Programme.

Since 2000, the Foundation has been working across Hertfordshire and North London with the aim of transforming lives on and off the pitch to build stronger communities. Using the Saracens cheerleaders as role models and dance teachers we have been able to provide activities for children and young people who may not be interested in traditional team sports. Our dance activities are designed to help

At the Saracens Foundation we pride ourselves on CONNECTING COMMUNITIES

Recently we held a Bridgerton themed tea party for our Love to Dance classes. It was a lovely afternoon of Bingo, True or False games, a raffle and, of course, some dancing.

Our mission with Love to Dance is simple, combat social isolation and promote physical activity among individuals over 50. For over 14 years we have built our community and provided dynamic and enjoyable dance classes across Barnet and Hertfordshire. Participants have seen an improvements to their health and quality of life in this supportive and inclusive community.

If you're interested in joining a session head to the Saracens Foundation website and book a class on the Love to Dance page.

Last week we hosted our annual Mean Machine game. The annual match is designed to celebrate the Get Onside course.

Get Onside graduates โ€“ now released from prison โ€“ are invited to the home of Saracens: StoneX Stadium to take part in a match pitting ex-offenders (Mean Machine) against a team made up of Prison Officers (Screws).

It was a back and forth game this year that kept you on the edge of your seat to the very end. Mean Machine took an early lead before the Screws hit back, finishing ahead at half time. The screws managed to extend on their lead but Mean Machine fought back level, before leading by 7 points with 5 minutes left on the clock. Mean machine defended well until the last play of the game where the screws broke through the line, scoring under the posts. With a successful conversion the game ended in a draw. Mean machine were able to hold onto the trophy being the current reigning champions.

A massive thank you to everyone that came down and all the took part in the game. With your amazing support we are able to run events like this.

This week marks Refugee Week across the globe and this yearโ€™s theme is โ€˜Courageโ€™. The participants on our Sporting Roots project show a great deal of courage every single day. Whether itโ€™s learning a new language or putting yourself outside of your comfort zone by attending a new event on your own. It requires a lot of courage to navigate the unknown each day. Itโ€™s been a busy couple of months on the Sporting Roots project, and we want to celebrate just a few highlightsโ€ฆ
Recently we hosted a Football Tournament which saw over 60 participants getting involved. This was a great way of bringing multiple charities together, and celebrating our sanctuary seekers here in London. We also hosted another โ€˜Family Dayโ€™ event with around 40 sanctuary seekers ranging from 1 years of age, up to 50. The day involved various games, activities and sports out in the sun, followed by some time to share pizza and stories together!
These events are incredibly important in helping our participants integrate further into the community, empowering them to creating their own networks and support systems.
