London’s elite guard Ben Maranan returns to lead the charge for Newham Youngbloods in NBL division 2 after a successful division 3 MVP season and promotion run.

Last night I bid farewell to another 2 girls as they follow their path in the Basketball world. I have to say that these 2 came to Youngbloods later than the norm as young ballers ⛹️ but their work ethic was 150% from the off! Dedication, Commitment, Loyalty! Parents that put their trust in me to lead their daughters to their goals. Farewell Debra & Lexy 👋🏽 ✈️ As always I will be watching 👀 🥰🏀

When these Caribbean women were not much older than teenagers, they saw the adverts in the newspapers asking for help to run the newly formed NHS in the UK. So they put on their best clothes, kissed their mums goodbye at the docks and sailed to Britain to work as nurses. 
 They ran the wards. Cared for the patients. Delivered babies and bandaged injuries. They worked tirelessly and often faced prejudice and hostility from their patients. Yet their efforts helped keep the NHS and the country going for decades. Now they are retired. But they still meet up at their beloved Positive Network social club in Balham, South London
They go there to listen to Jim Reeves on the stereo. To share a hot meal. To try out chair yoga and talk about the old days. They play bingo but above all, they look after one another. They even visit schools to tell young people about their lives and what it was like arriving in Britain all those years ago. For many of these women, the club is a lifeline. Sadly, many members have passed away recently. And the other day, after years of loyal service, their minibus has finally gone to the great scrapyard in the sky.
 Without it, many of these women can no longer get to the club to see their friends so will have to remain at home alone. We are trying to raise money for a replacement minibus.
