Where every round begins.
The 1st hole on the J.H. Taylor Course offers a calm and inviting start to one of Royal Mid-Surrey’s most historic layouts.
A short par 3 set within the mature parkland of Old Deer Park, it is framed by trees, morning light and the quiet anticipation that comes with the opening shot of the day.
Simple at first glance, but full of character, it sets the tone beautifully for the round ahead.
A fitting first chapter to a course and club with over 130 years of history.

Some details are easy to pass by.
The crest of Royal Mid-Surrey is one of them, seen at the entrance, on the scorecard, on member bag tags, and across the club each day.
But behind it sits an important part of the club’s story.
Granted its Royal Warrant by King George V in 1926, Royal Mid-Surrey’s crest has represented the club for generations, carrying with it a sense of history, identity and quiet pride.
Because at the best clubs, history is not always shouted about.
Sometimes, it is simply carried.
