We’re building something important.
As our Accessible Rowing programme takes shape, we’re launching a Disability Advisory Group - and we want you to be part of it.
The DAG will bring lived experience, expertise and fresh perspectives to help us make rowing at FRBC genuinely inclusive and welcoming for everyone. It will support our coaches and help shape the future of our programme.
We’re thrilled to have Charlotte Watts leading the group. Charlotte is a barrister, experienced rower and qualified coach who volunteered with our VI Row the Rhythm programme last year - and she’s already an integral part of our Accessible Rowing journey.
Now we’re looking for more voices. We’d love to hear from:
* People with lived experience of disability
* Carers and parents
* Athletes, rowers and non-rowers alike
* Professionals with relevant expertise
However you’re connected to disability, you have something to offer.
To join Charlotte and help shape this group, each out to Denise at [email protected] 💙

They’re off!
Our group of intrepid rowers set off this morning on their 250km challenge across the North Sea!
Four rowers - Nathalie, Marine, Eyup and Iain - will row 250km across the North Sea from the UK to the Netherlands.
This challenge started with Nathalie.
After facing cancer, there was a moment when even the idea of rowing again felt uncertain. Coming back to the water wasn’t just about sport - it was about rebuilding strength, identity, and belief.

He did it
On Saturday, FRBC member Henry Stevens completed his Row 100 challenge - 100 miles from Oxford to Hammersmith, solo, in a single scull, over four consecutive days.
The row was dedicated to Annette, Henry’s wife, who passed away earlier this year. Throughout her illness, Annette was a passionate supporter of rare cancer research, and this challenge was Henry’s way of continuing that work in her memory.
Henry, we are so proud to have you as part of this community. Thank you for choosing to row home to us. 💙

It’s National Volunteers’ Week 🙌
This week, we want to say a huge thank you to every volunteer who gives their time to FRBC. Whether you’re helping on the water, behind the scenes, or out in the community - you make this charity what it is.
And if you’ve ever thought about getting involved, there’s no better time to take the leap.
Volunteering with FRBC means more than just giving back. It means being part of something genuinely meaningful: helping young people from under-served communities discover rowing for the first time, protecting and restoring the stretch of the Thames we call home, and joining a club that puts people and planet at the heart of everything it does.
You’ll find a warm, welcoming community. You’ll develop real skills. And you’ll finish every session knowing you’ve made a difference.
We’re particularly looking for volunteers around two areas right now: environmental stewardship on and around the Thames, and improving access to rowing for those who wouldn’t otherwise get the chance.
If either of those feels like your kind of contribution, we’d love to have you on board.
