If you struggle with shifting your body back to daytime hours after night shifts, then try this! đ
The temptation is usually to get home and đ´sleep the whole day⌠but if youâre trying to switch back to a daytime routine, that can make it harder for your body clock to adjust.
After your final night shift, try:â¨â
A shorter recovery sleep (around 3â5 hours)â¨â
Getting up by early afternoonâ¨â
Getting some daylight once youâre awakeâ¨â
Aiming for a more normal bedtime that evening
This helps give your body the signals it needs to start shifting back to a day schedule âď¸
âĄď¸ Save this for your next run of nights, send it to your shift worker bestie and âď¸remember, this is for your last night shift, not if youâre heading into another one đ

âWHATâS THE WORST THING YOUâVE EVER SEEN?â
I know it usually comes from curiosity, not cruelty, but when you ask that question, youâre often asking someone to relive one of the worst moments of their life.
I used to ask it too when I first joined the ambulance service, until someone said to me, âI donât want to relive that moment.â And that stayed with me.
When youâve done CPR, walked into unimaginable scenes and heard the sound of heartbreak, those moments donât just disappear when the shift ends.
They stay with you.
And the truth is, itâs not always the âbig jobsâ that leave the deepest scars. Sometimes itâs the quiet ones. The lonely patient. The child you canât stop thinking about. The family memberâs scream. The moment you held it together at work and fell apart later.
đ So on International Paramedics Day, remember this: paramedics are more than the worst things theyâve seen. Behind every uniform is a human carrying moments the world never sees.
Today is about recognising the compassion, resilience and sacrifice behind the role â not just the emergencies, but everything carried long after the job is done. đ

POV: you work shifts, youâre exhausted, your routine is all over the place⌠and youâve started believing fat loss just âwonât workâ for you đ
Poppy lost 3 inches off her waist in 4 weeks without living in the gym, cutting out her favourite foods, or doing endless daily workouts.
She did it by focusing on what actually works on unpredictable schedules:
⨠2 full-body workouts a week
⨠simple meals with enough protein
⨠a plan that fit around her life, not the other way round
⨠consistency over perfection
No âstarting again Monday.â
No all-or-nothing.
No avoiding social occasions
If youâre a female shift worker and youâre fed up with feeling like your rota is the reason you canât lose weight, I want you to know it doesnât have to be.
You donât need more discipline.
You need a strategy that works with early starts, night shifts, long days and low energy.
Thatâs exactly what I help women do. đ
DM me READY and Iâll send you the details of how we can make fat loss work around your schedule.
I donât know why fizzy drinks get such a bad rep when, for a lot of women doing shift work, that post-shift fizzy drink is the exact thing stopping the evening snack spiral đ
đ If youâve just done a 12-hour shift, your feet hurt, your brainâs fried, and youâve finally sat down at the end of the day⌠sometimes youâre not looking for âperfect nutritionââŚyou just want something that takes the edge off!
And if a fizzy drink helps stop the biscuits, chocolate, cake and random kitchen picking, Iâm really not mad about it đ¤ˇđźââď¸
Now obviously, a glass of water would be the âbetterâ option on paper.
But real life, especially when youâre doing shift work, isnât always about making the perfect choice.
â
Itâs about balance, and finding what actually helps in that moment.
đŤ§If a fizzy drink helps you feel satisfied, switch off, and stops a full-on snack spiral, that can still be a helpful choice.
Shift workers donât need more guilt around food.â¨
They need realistic strategies that actually work đ

âŹď¸7KG DOWN IN 6 MONTHSâŹď¸
Lauren came to me struggling to lose weight after yo-yo dieting and following FAD diets!
Working shifts đ organising a wedding, running a house and still having a busy social life, Lauren was finding it difficult to find any balance.
đ´She was struggling with energy crashes whilst working a 12 hour shift, lacked confidence in herself and felt lost knowing what to do next!
đ¤ŠSo I created her a training programme tailored to fit around her busy work and social schedule. Making movement simple and keeping them quick and effective was key đ
So quick fire workouts to get her heart rate elevated but still get the results we wanted was the goal. They involved a mix of weight training, home workouts and getting 8k steps a day. And didnât it work! đĽ
âWithout restricting the foods she loved, we started at maintenance calories then slowly reduced her intake over the months, but not to anything stupidly low as we wanted to fuel her through her busy lifestyle!
Rest was also a big part of Laurens programme. Working long night shifts we wanted to allow her body to recover from the stress and on these days, yoga and long walks were the go to!
We found Lauren her BALANCE and taught her about MODERATION đ
⨠Over 6 months Lauren not only lost 7kg!!! She has more energy, feels healthier and feels 100x more confident in herself.
Not only was this a weight loss journey, it was about a lifestyle change and becoming a healthier and stronger version of herself. đŞđť
Iâm so proud of the work she has put into this journey!đ¤

Exactly what days off are for 𩵠making memories đĽ°
Rest and recovery days are just as important as training days đŞđť
Shout out to my brother for getting involved in this đđđť

Stop planning your workouts by the week... đŤđ
If you work rotating shifts, trying to make Monday âleg dayâ and Tuesday âupper bodyâ is setting yourself up for frustration đ¤Ż
â
Instead, focus on your workout split as a whole. If you miss a session, you donât need to start overâyou simply pick up where you left off.
Work with your roster, not against it. If youâve got more time on your days off, schedule extra gym sessions then. Before each run of shifts, take 5 minutes to look at your roster and decide when training realistically fits. A little planning goes a long way.
And remember... flexibility is key. We all know shifts can overrun, or you can finish after âone of those jobsâ where the last thing you want to do is train. On those days, itâs okay to prioritise recovery or other responsibilities. Missing one workout wonât undo your progress.
Progress comes from being consistent over monthsânot from sticking to a perfect Monday-to-Friday workout schedule.
⨠Train consistently.â¨â¨ Adapt when life happens.â¨â¨ Keep moving forward.

It was June 2018 and I was working full-time as a personal trainer in a high-end gym in Canary Wharf đď¸
I was waiting in reception for my next gym induction when a 20-year-old woman walked through the doors.
As we sat down to chat about her goals, she told me she wanted one thing...
âTo be smaller.â đ
She was already incredibly slimâaround a size 6âbut all she could see were flaws that needed fixingđ
She wasnât interested in learning how to lift weights.â¨She didnât want to build strength.â¨She just wanted me to show her where the cardio machines were.
đŞđťI explained how resistance training could help her feel stronger, healthier and more confident. But nothing I said landed.
Because I recognised that mindset.
Two years earlier, that had been me.
I lived with constant anxiety around food.
â¨I was terrified of gaining weight.
â¨Every decision I made revolved around trying to stay as small as possible.
So sitting opposite her didnât just make me feel sad.
It triggered me đ

⨠âI finally stopped trying to do it all on my own.â
When Rachel joined team CBV, she wasnât lacking motivation.
She was lacking a plan that actually fit her life.
Like so many women, sheâd tried losing weight before. Sheâd start with good intentions, but without structure, support and accountability, consistency always became the hardest part.
So instead of handing her a generic meal plan, we built a strategy around her.
âď¸ Her lifestyle.â¨âď¸ Her goals.â¨âď¸ Her challenges.â¨âď¸ Her routine.
Week by week, she built confidence, created sustainable habits and started seeing progressânot because she was following a âperfectâ plan, but because she was following one that was realistic.
Today she hasnât just lost weight...
Sheâs healthier.â¨Sheâs happier.â¨Sheâs more confident.â¨
And most importantly, sheâs built a relationship with food that she knows she can maintain long after coaching.
Her words say it best:
âInvesting in yourself is one of the best decisions you can make. Vikki genuinely cares about helping you succeed and creates a programme thatâs realistic, achievable and built around your life. If youâre willing to trust the process and put in the effort, youâll be amazed at what you can achieve.â
If youâve been trying to do this alone and getting the same results every time...
Maybe you donât need more willpower.
Maybe you just need the right support. đ
