It’s always interesting hearing what people thought Pilates was before they tried it.

Particularly the men.

Some thought it would be stretching.
Some thought it would be easy.
Some weren’t entirely sure what it was at all.

The irony, of course, is that Pilates was created by a man.

Joseph Pilates developed the method as a complete system for building strength, control, mobility and resilience in the body.

Over the years, perceptions have changed. The method hasn’t.

Watching these conversations reminded me just how quickly opinions change once people experience the work for themselves.

Usually somewhere around The Hundred.

Working out with my Head of Brand Jayne certainly got the ideas and inspiration flowing this morning.

As teachers, our own practice matters.

Why? When the work is in your body and you take the time to give back to yourself, you bring a different energy, understanding and interpretation of the method back to your clients and the feel it.

For Jayne, it feeds straight back into you, our Exhale community. 🫶🏼

An energised body certainly energises the mind, and we can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on behind the scenes.

A little Ladder Barrel motivation this Monday.

Our fabulous apprentice Tas doing Candlestick for the first time and what a buzz as both teacher and student when it just happens and the months of hard work come together.

The Ladder Barrel is such an incredible piece of apparatus to help support your extension, help find your centre and prepares you for one seriously powerful move like the candlestick.

An exercise that requires full body strength, full body control and full body connection.

And that doesn’t happen overnight.

What you see is an impressive move, what we see is the system working and a trusted process. 🙌🏼
