A year and a half ago, Tammijean was picking up sub classes here & there 🧘♀️
She & her husband had been talking for years about opening a martial arts & yoga studio together.
She’d already done her 200hr but had taken a step back from teaching… and once the studio started to feel real, she wanted more confidence before stepping into it!
In her words: “I felt it was the perfect time to learn more & to find my confidence as a teacher.”
She came to us mainly for Helen and Kat - she’d taken Helen’s Rocket classes for years, and Kat, who runs the Kindred studio with her own husband, Jules, felt like “the perfect mentor.”
What she didn’t expect was how close she got to the rest of her cohort (“I truly love them all to bits”) 🧡
What stuck with her most: something said about breath in the pranayama module - “most teachers tell you when to breathe, but they don’t actually show you HOW to do it”… which changed how she cues it in every class since.
And ’s Beyond Alignment module, which she says gave her “a sense of freedom and permission to break away from the usual standard yoga sequences.”
She still uses ’s philosophy teaching & Helen and Kat’s sequencing tools regularly… tools she says she keeps “in my back pocket” as she and her husband get closer to opening their own studio.
We asked what she’d say to someone on the fence:
“There is never going to be the perfect moment to do it, but it will feel right when you’re in it.” ✨
If any of this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
Applications close in 3 weeks & we have just 2 spaces remaining!

Meet our 300hr YTT Faculty: Katarina Rayburn 🌀
Lead Teacher
A physics graduate and trained actress, Katarina never planned to teach yoga - until a Rocket Yoga class in Shoreditch hooked her. She returned to India to complete her 200hr Teacher Training in Ashtanga & Rocket®️ Vinyasa with The Yoga People (lineage of Rocket®️ founder Larry Schultz), then began teaching full-time.
By 2017 she’d completed 500hrs of advanced training in Ashtanga, Rocket®️, Yin & Mandala Vinyasa & has kept building her hours since, in advanced adjusting & anatomy with Ambra Vallo, Rocket®️ with David Kyle, Pregnancy Yoga with Uma Dinsmore-Tuli, Yin & AcuYin with Jo Phee and Ashtanga second series with David Swenson.
Her style is creative, strong & empowering, rooted in chakra & elemental philosophy - each class is a grounding, energising journey inward through movement, breath & awareness.
She’s led yoga retreats worldwide since 2016 (around 7 a year) and co-founded Kindred Yoga with husband Julian in 2018, launching the Kindred School of Yoga teacher trainings in 2020.

Meet our 300hr Faculty: Shamita Ray 🌀
Module: Philosophical Texts
Shamita has been teaching yoga since 2010, delivering classes, workshops, retreats & training courses in venues all over the world.
Thirsty to delve deep into the history, philosophy & language of yoga, in 2023 she completed an MA in the Traditions of Yoga & Meditation from SOAS. Her dissertation, titled “Cinmudrā: Origins, Evolution & Meaning”, was subsequently published in the peer-reviewed Journal of Yoga Studies.
She is particularly curious about exploring the historical roots of yoga principles and practices, while examining what it is to be a practitioner today, with the relevance - or not - of those ancient philosophies.
Her sessions are engaging, inspiring & playful, driven by enthusiasm and the desire to share the discoveries she has made through researching, practicing & teaching yoga for over 20 years.
Aside from yoga, Shamita was a professional dancer & choreographer for twenty years, and most recently, has also branched out into charitable giving.
