Submit your paper to Quarterly Journal of Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology's thematic collection: Managing geotechnical assets in the face of climate change

Expertly curated by collection Editors:
💥 Kevin Briggs, University of Southampton
💥Jasper Cook, Independent consultant
💥Stuart Millis, Arup
💥Chris Power, Mott MacDonald
and overseen by Assistant Editors Colin Serridge, Tritech Ground Engineering Ltd. and Ross Stirling, Newcastle University.

This collection invites submissions on the assessment and management of climate change-driven impacts to geotechnical assets, as well as the challenges these present for asset inspection, assessment and maintenance, the future proofing of designs for new assets, and the approaches for monitoring to facilitate enhanced long-term asset resilience.

Being a Fellow of the Geological Society gives you ‘FGS’ status and the ability to use ‘FGS’ post-nominal letters.

Post-nominal letters are the perfect opportunity to demonstrate your dedication to professional standards, continuing professional development and ongoing commitment to geoscience.

They are a valuable signpost for employers to recognise your skills and experience, highlighting your background and credentials clearly.

Alongside 'FGS', you can also add the relevant CGeol or CSci post-nominals if you have achieved Chartered Geologist or Chartered Scientist status.

Are you a Fellow of the Geological Society? Add ‘FGS’ to your LinkedIn profile, CV, email signature and anywhere else you want to publicise it! Not a member yet? Find out more about membership www.geolsoc.org.uk/join

Applications for our Fermor Seed Corn Grants for geoscientists are now open!

If you're an early career researcher, technical staff or research assistant within geoscience, this opportunity might be for you. Named after Sir Lewis Leigh Fermor, this grant scheme seeks to provide seed funding to individuals who are not able to apply for other, more traditional funding sources.

It also welcomes applications from early career researchers based in India and/or those who aim to develop international research partnerships between India and the UK.

The Geological Society will award up to five grants within the funding period, with an average award between £50,000 and £75,000.

Geoenergy in the hands of early career researchers - Elahe Kamel Targhi

From outcrop observations to dynamic simulations: an efficient workflow for generating ensembles of geologically plausible fracture networks and assessing their impact on flow and transport.

This talk is about developing a new method to generate realistic fracture networks and simulate how they affect fluid and heat flow underground, helping to better understand uncertainty in applications like geothermal energy and CO₂ storage.
