What a Friday night at the Budokwai! 🥋

We were honoured to host Sensei Gneo — 8th Dan JKA, Chief Instructor of Belgium and Chief Instructor of Europe — for a very special class that drew a great turnout.

An hour and a half masterclass on kata Jion using specific Jion kihon drills, bunkai and self-defence applications and Sensei’s wisdom to deepen our understanding of the kata. Fantastic from start to finish. 👏

Afterwards, the group headed to the King's Arms to watch Spain v Belgium. Sensei Gneo was very gracious about that. 😄⚽

🏆 JKA England National Championships — What a day for the Budowkai! 👏

Last Saturday at K2 Crawley, 825 competitors from across the country came to compete in the Nationals. The standard was extremely high and every match was fiercely contested and the Budowkai squad of 24 came away with 17 medals. 🥇🥈🥉

From the youngest competitors on the mat to the seniors — everyone gave everything. That's what this club is about. 👊

A huge congratulations to every single one of you who competed. Medals or not, stepping onto that floor at a national championship takes courage and commitment.
