The oldest 18 hole course in England, set among the heath and woodland of Wimbledon Common in SW19 beneath the iconic windmill

London Scottish Golf Club, set in beautiful heath and woodland by the windmill on Wimbledon Common, is an out of the ordinary 18-hole golf club. The wood-panelled clubhouse is one of the few in Britain that remains from the Victorian era, and is a wonderful setting for your after-match refreshments. It is the longest continuously played-upon course in England. We pride ourselves on being a friendl

Practice Green upgrade in the making!

It might not look like much just yet, but things are happening behind the scenes to give our practice green a much-needed upgrade.

There is a little disruption now but we promise it will be worth it. Soon you will have a better place to practise those putts, sharpen up your short game and, most importantly, blame the green when the ball refuses to go in.

A big thank you to everyone involved in getting this project underway. We cannot wait to see the finished result!

When your ball lands high in the bushes…

Do you try to hit it?

Of course you do. Because apparently the sensible option of taking your medicine, declaring it unplayable and moving on is far too easy.

One brave soul has spotted their ball and is now faced with the eternal golfer’s dilemma: hero shot or sensible shot?

We all know which one most golfers are choosing.

Saturdays at 11.30am, the Red Brigade is ready to conquer the course!

Bags loaded, trolleys deployed and everyone looking remarkably confident for a group that is about to spend several hours trying to hit a tiny white ball into tiny holes.

At this point it is less of a military operation and more of an organised chaos situation.

The shirts are red, the spirits are high and the excuses are already being prepared.

Let the battle commence!

We cannot praise Ian Jennings and his team enough for the work they have put in this summer.

With relentless heat, very little rain and some seriously challenging conditions, they have been up before most of us have even considered hitting the snooze button, working tirelessly to keep London Scottish looking its best.

The course does not stay in shape by magic. It takes early mornings, hard work, dedication and a fair amount of battling the elements.

So here is a big shout-out to Ian and the greenkeeping team.

The next time you are enjoying a round on the Common, spare a thought for the people who were probably already at work while you were still dreaming about your tee time.

Thank you, Ian!

Last night’s eclipse from our second hole

There was no shouting at a wayward golf ball, no debating whether that was definitely out of bounds and not a single “fore!” echoing across the Common

Just an eerie silence and calm as the eclipse painted the course in a rather magical light

The things you find on a golf course…

Between our 3rd green and 4th tee sits a rather unusual tree

It is not a hazard. It is not a landmark on the scorecard. Yet somehow it has become a little home for hearts, visitors regularly leaving them hanging from its branches

A little romance on the course? We will allow it

Although we cannot promise the same level of affection from the 4th tee. That is where the tree usually starts collecting golf balls

The windmill with the backdrop of beautiful clouds, the garden in bloom and a beautiful summer’s evening

Sometimes you don’t need the perfect golf shot

Sometimes you just need to stop for a moment, take in the view and remember how lucky we are to call Wimbledon Common home
