Top tips on exercising in hot weather:

1) get up and out early!
2) wear lightly coloured clothing
3) slow your pace, and reduce your intensity
4) find shade
5) hydrate before, during and after exercise, and consider adding in some electrolytes

Have I missed anything out?

June has been another fantastic month, filled with plenty of fun, fresh air, and the opportunity to work with so many amazing people in the great outdoors.

One of my personal highlights was celebrating the summer solstice on Dartmoor with some wonderful ladies!

I’ve also loved seeing everyone at our Fit in the Park classes on Thursdays and Saturdays in South Park Gardens, Wimbledon.

If you’d like to join us for a classes or personal training, drop me a message - we’d love to welcome you!

I had such a lovely Summer Solstice weekend away on Dartmoor with Love Her Wild Women's Adventure Community, organised by the brilliant Elspeth Fimpel | Wellbeing through nature connection & laughter and Ella Hewton .

We stayed at the wonderfully special Moor Barton Wilding, and spent time exploring the idea of rewilding, both in nature and within ourselves, and how the two are so beautifully intertwined.

I was going to write about how, now that the days begin their slow journey towards winter, it’s the perfect time to establish those outdoor movement habits. The walks, runs, swims and workouts that you make part of your routine now, are the ones you’re far more likely to maintain when the evenings draw in, and the weather becomes less inviting.

HOWEVER…given this exceptionally hot weather, you have my full permission to ignore all of that advice for a few days, and stay very still in the coolest place you can find.

Normal service will resume when temperatures do!

Have we become too disconnected from nature?

Or are we just too distracted to notice it?

Why does nature make us feel better? Is it because we remember more of our evolutionary roots than we think?

It’s been a busy week!

2 days of teaching bushcraft at a school for Big School Camp, then straight on to the Bushcraft Show for more camping, this time with my family for 4 days.

Brilliant all round. Not many photos as my phone stayed well out of the way…who needs it when you’re in nature having fun?!

Back home last night, and an early start this morning with my online Glutes & Core class, followed by PT on Wimbledon Common, then teaching Stretch & Restore on Zoom.

I was going to get everything unpacked this afternoon…but it’s just too hot!
