Blues at the Brewery

Our special guests this month are Ma Polaine's Great Decline from Somerset. Beth (vocals, double bass AND harmonica) and Clinton (guitar) have a sound that is all their own. Growing up with jazz, blues and soul, they use those influences and a love for individuality to write songs that are simultaneously dark and light, featuring Beth’s effortlessly distinctive vocals and evocative lyrics, coupled with Clinton’s understated guitar style.

Friday night's party at 135 Bar & Lounge - Bethnal Green and Dawnette Fessey Francesca Nnoka Shaw & Remi Bankyln def raised the roof. This event also marked 3 years of running events as Blues at the Brewery. It's a joy and a privilege to be in a position to be able to run these events, I get to throw fun parties for a great community of ppl, I get to showcase amazingly talented musicians and most of all I get to bring ppl together. We may be sleep deprived the next day but we leave feeling connected to each other. This is our 3rd venue in 3 years and perhaps our best, it is clear you the dancers love it.
In response to your feedback I also made a concerted effort book more women blues artists this year. 4 out of the 8 bands so far in 2026 have been fronted by women and there's still 2 or 3 yet to come.
