The HAC Band were pleased to provide musical support to the Isle of Man's National Day, known as Tynwald Day, this week. Tynwald Day is one of the world's oldest continuous parliamentary traditions, dating back to the 10th century. The annual ceremony at St John's saw the proclamation of new laws and celebrated the Island's rich heritage and democracy.

Providing music throughout the ceremonial proceedings, HAC musicians formed the Fanfare Team alongside The Band of The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment supporting the Guard of Honour from the King's Company, 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards, with further musical support from the The Lowland and The Highland Band The Royal Regiment of Scotland

Each year, new Acts of Tynwald are proclaimed in both English and Manx from Tynwald Hill, continuing a parliamentary tradition that stretches back more than 1,000 years.

The HAC Band was proud to support this years St George’s Day Dinner at Armoury House on 23rd April, one of The Honourable Artillery Company's most distinguished and eagerly anticipated occasions.

The HAC Salon Orchestra provided an elegant musical backdrop to the dinner, which brought together fine dining and a celebration of tradition. In America’s 250th year, The HAC was honoured to host the United States Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Mr Warren Stephens, who attended with his wife, Harriet. Mr Stephens delivered a speech to the distinguished guests, which was a highlight of the evening.

Following the formal proceedings, the Cabaret Band brought the evening to life with a vibrant programme of patriotic music, rounding off the celebrations in true festive spirit.

Enjoy highlights from the recent recital at The Royal Military Chapel - The Guards' Chapel 'Dances, Dreams & Gaelic Echoes', featuring an outstanding flute ensemble performance by musicians of Honourable Artillery Company Regimental Band and The The Band of The Royal Yeomanry joined by a guest musician from The Band of the Grenadier Guards.

The programme took listeners on a rich musical journey, from the elegance of Boismortier’s Concerto for Five Flutes in A Minor and Reicha’s Quartet in D Major, through the expressive contrasts of Zemplini’s Trio for Flutes, to the contemporary textures of Yagisawa’s Coloratura and Nigel Wood’s Stemming.

The performance concluded with Catherine McMichael’s A Gaelic Offering, a beautifully evocative suite comprising Rose Cottage, The Doubtful Wife, Lake Solace and Describe a Circle.

A wonderful showcase of musicality and collaboration from our flute players in the magnificent setting of The Royal Military Chapel - The Guards’ Chapel.

Musicians: LCpl Hannah Faulkner - Grenadier Guards | Sgt Alan Shellard, LSgt Dave Ward, Musn Jayshiv Patel - HAC | Musn Lucy Meredith, Musn Hannah Taylor, Musn Elizabeth Hammond, Musn Laura Brazier - RY
