Ever noticed one side feels harder than the other during Pilates?

It’s one of the most common things people notice in class-and it doesn’t automatically mean that side is weaker.

Often, the difference comes down to how your brain and body have learned to move over years of everyday habits. We all have a dominant side, and Pilates has a way of bringing those patterns to the surface.

The good news? Noticing the difference is the first step.

With slow, controlled movement and consistent practice, your body has an incredible ability to adapt. Over time, those movement patterns can become more balanced, coordinated and confident.

The next time one side feels harder, don’t rush through it.

Slow down. Pay attention.

That’s often where the real work begins.

Have you noticed one side feels more challenging than the other in class?

A closer look at MyoYin, our new class combining self-myofascial release with long-held Yin postures.

We start with therapy balls to ease tension in the muscles and fascia, then move into supported stillness. The result is a slower, more restorative way to work through tightness than stretching alone.

Next MyoYin class is tomorrow, Friday, at 6:30pm. Book online at infinitypilatesstudio.com

Pressotherapy at Infinity Health & Wellness Studio, Wood Green

Recovery is just as important as movement.

Using the Zemits Demeter 2.0 compression system, Pressotherapy provides a gentle, rhythmic compression massage designed to support healthy circulation and your body’s natural lymphatic drainage. The result is a deeply relaxing treatment that helps you feel lighter, less fatigued, and restored.

It can help:

→ Support healthy lymphatic drainage
→ Improve blood and lymph circulation
→ Reduce the feeling of heavy, tired legs
→ Temporarily reduce fluid retention and mild swelling
→ Promote relaxation and post-exercise recovery
→ Leave you feeling lighter, refreshed, and restored

Whether you’ve been on your feet all day, spend hours at a desk, train regularly, travel often, or simply want time to switch off and support your body’s recovery, Pressotherapy offers a gentle, non-invasive way to help you feel your best.

If you’d like to experience it for yourself, send us a message, give us a call, or get more information on our website.

Four things we notice most often on the Reformer - and the small adjustments that can completely change how an exercise feels.

→ Holding your breath through the most challenging part of a movement.
→ Rushing the exercise instead of moving with control.
→ Overarching through the lower back instead of maintaining length and support.
→ Leading spinal extension from the neck, rather than allowing the deep core to stabilise while the muscles of the back create the movement.

These are all common movement patterns, and they happen for many different reasons. Sometimes they’re a response to challenge, sometimes they’re simply the way your body has learned to move.

Recognising them allows us to make small adjustments that can improve control, efficiency, and comfort.

Part two of this series is coming soon. ✨
