Marked Gear = Safe Gear / Lobster Pot Campaign update
The latest data submitted to the Royal Yachting Association reporting platform shows 82 reports of poorly marked static fishing gear since Sept 2025, including 32 entanglements and 2 injuries - and the problem continues across UK waters.

The figures underline a growing safety concern and highlight the importance of gathering accurate reporting to build the evidence needed for change.

is calling for mandatory, enforceable marking of static fishing gear, as voluntary guidance is not delivering consistent safety outcomes.

Every report helps identify hotspots and strengthens the case for safer seas.
