Apocalyptic

One Second After is easily the most enjoyable book on this list and most in the group will LOVE it. It's a classic Apocalyptic story of the collapse of civilization, survival, and a man and his community coming together to overcome the struggles that societal collapse brings.

Practical Prepping

The Richest Man in Babylon is a book on the basics of financial management in the form of stories. Many people struggle with $$$, many Preppers don't have enough, and this book will help you understand where you went wrong and how to correct or better your financial situation if you apply it's rules to your life. It has stories of men who overcome slavery, who go from losers to men respected among their peers, men who go to war for their people, and who make a better life for their family. The rules in this book can easily be applied to prepping. I read this book annually. If you only read one book from this list I recommend this one.

Disgusting/Nightmare

The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect... This is easily one of the most disgusting and dystopian books I've ever had the displeasure of reading and I couldn't put it down.... but also at times I had to put it down and honestly wanted to stop reading it several times, especially in the final chapters. It's a story of an AI who becomes all powerful, who's bound by the rules of robotics, and how that creates an absolute "Utopia/Dystopia" on a level that I find difficult to comprehend. This book will disgust you, it will make you feel bad, it will keep you up at night and many wouldn't finish it. It will make you question the morals and mind of the author who wrote it, in all honesty I would probably hate being near the man who wrote this book. I recommend this book the least because of its disgusting content and nightmarish world. It makes the Matrix feel like Disneyland.

Freedom Fighters is about the USSR invading the US and how the citizens arm up and start a rebellion to take their country back. This was one of my favorite games as a kid and shows a very unique SHTF situation. Are there any SHTF games you would recommend other check out?
