Meet the team and the communities they’re ready to empower:
Becky Lee will be supporting the Hong Kong and international community.
Sophie Choudhry is working with Reading University students and the wider community.
Andrea Malcolm will be supporting vulnerable women and girls across Reading, including different faith communities.
Helen Fischle is taking her new skills back to Alabama A&M University in the United States.
Andrea shared it best:
“Personal safety is not a luxury; it is a fundamental right... I cannot wait to put these skills to work and support those who need it most in our community.”
This training was delivered completely free of charge thanks to funding from the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) Thames Valley and the Reading Safer Community Partnership, as part of the Reading: Empowering Women and Girls initiative.

🎓 Leaving school is exciting—but also a leap into the unknown.
New environments, new freedoms, and, sometimes, new risks.
At Soar With Us, we believe every young person deserves the tools to move forward confidently and safely.
Our personal safety & self-defence workshops equip school leavers with:
✅ Practical strategies to recognise and avoid danger
✅ Confidence to set boundaries and respond to threats
✅ A trauma-informed approach that empowers, not alarms
We don't tell young people to limit their lives—we help them step into them boldly.
💬 “I feel so much more confident walking to uni and being out with friends.” — Workshop Participant, 18
📍If you're a sixth form, college, youth programme or university preparing students for their next chapter—we’d love to support you.

Confidence isn’t just a feeling—it’s measurable.
At Soar With Us, we use the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale to assess the impact of our personal safety and self-defence workshops.
We recently asked participants to respond to this powerful statement:
💬 “I feel that I am a person of worth.”
Before our 2-hour workshop:
🔸 20 strongly agreed
🔸 60 agreed
🔸 20 disagreed
After the workshop:
✅ 38 strongly agreed
✅ 62 agreed
🚫 0 disagreed
That’s a 100% reduction in self-doubt—in just two hours.
But the benefits go beyond the session. Higher self-esteem is linked to:
Greater workplace confidence and communication
Improved learning and engagement in education
Stronger mental health and resilience
More connected and active communities
💡 When people feel stronger, they show up differently—in every part of their lives.
At Soar With Us, we teach practical self-defence skills that shift mindsets and build real, lasting confidence.
📅 Want to bring this impact to your workplace, school, or community? Let’s connect.

💬 Why Workplace Self-Defence Training Is a Must in 2025
Let’s talk about something that often goes unspoken at work: feeling safe. Not just psychologically, but physically.
In 2025, self-defence training should no longer be seen as “nice to have.” It’s a basic act of care—a way for organizations to say, “We see you. We want you to feel safe here.”
Because the truth is:
🤝 Not everyone walks into work feeling secure.
🧠 Fear can impact mental health, productivity, and trust.
🛡️ Personal Safety & Self-defence training isn't about teaching people to fight. It's about giving them tools to feel strong, aware, and supported.
Imagine how powerful it is when a workplace says:
“Your safety matters to us. We’re investing in you—not just as an employee, but as a person.”
It’s time we treat safety seriously.
✨ Let's normalize conversations around workplace safety. Let’s lead with empathy.

If you need to get away in a hurry, reversing out of a spot can lose you important time. Make a habit of parking with your bonnet to the exit, so you know you can get away quickly.

Happy memories of training with our friends at Kiran Support. We have been back 3 times in the past few months and love working with these amazing women. Much love to all x

You never know how much you can trust a lock, or even if there will be one. Use it on the inside of your door, to prevent anyone you don’t want entering from opening it from the outside. Easy to use, and portable. We don’t travel anywhere without a door wedge.

I spent yesterday with my Mum (82) and Daughter (20), and we found ourselves reflecting that we have all experienced, or had friends who experienced sexual assault. This culture of abuse affects every generation, globally. What does society need to do to end the cycle?
