Seven years. β€οΈπ€π
Today, we celebrate 7 years of Emancipated Run Crew.
What started as an idea between three friends has grown into a movement dedicated to breaking down barriers and creating spaces where Black and Brown communities feel welcomed, represented and empowered through running and walking.
ERC was never created simply to organise runs. It was created with a different purpose.
Over the past seven years, weβve watched people take their first walk, complete their first 5K, marathon and ultra, build lifelong friendships, grow in confidence, and discover the power of community through movement.
Together, weβve created programmes, events and safe spaces that continue to increase participation and celebrate our culture, including our annual ERC Carnival Run, which returns for its seventh edition later this month.
To every member, volunteer, run leader, partner and supporter, THANK YOU. Everything ERC has become is because of you.
Our mission remains the same as it was on day one: to break down barriers, increase participation, and ensure Black and Brown communities are visible, valued, celebrated and leading the way in running.
There is still more to do. More people to reach. More lives to change.
Hereβs to the next chapter.
Run. Walk. Make Change.
Happy 7th Birthday, ERC. β€οΈπ€π
Running Free since 2019.
