WELCOME TO THE 100KG CLUB, HANNAH! đź’Ż
This one has been a long time coming.
Hannah had been stuck around the 70kg mark for a while. Strength wasn’t the only thing holding her back. We’ve spent a lot of time working on her posture, positioning and getting her moving more efficiently before really pushing the load.
And today it all came together.
100KG DEADLIFT 🙌🙌🙌
A huge milestone, but the best part isn’t just the number on the bar.
Hannah is now feeling the benefit of being stronger where it actually matters. She’s stronger in the boat, more capable in her rowing and stronger in everyday life too.
That’s exactly what strength training should do.
Build a body that can handle more, perform better and keep doing the things you love.
Massive congratulations Hannah. You’ve earned this one.
Officially a member of the 100kg Club 💯🙌

Strength is your pension.
Most people think of strength training as something you do to look better.
But once you’re over 35, there’s a much bigger reason to keep getting stronger.
You’re building the strength, muscle, balance and confidence that future-you is going to rely on.
Every squat, deadlift, row and carry is a small deposit.
You probably won’t notice the benefit of one session 20 years from now.
But keep making those deposits, week after week, year after year, and they add up.
The goal isn’t to spend your life in the gym.
It’s to still be able to travel, walk up hills, carry your own shopping, get off the floor easily, play with your kids or grandkids and keep saying yes to the things you enjoy.
For most people, 2–3 well-planned strength sessions a week can go a very long way.
Don’t train because you’re getting older.
Train because you plan on getting older.
I help busy adults 35+ get stronger, lose fat and keep their body capable without living in the gym.

Injury doesn’t mean you stop training. It means you train differently. 🚴
The last few weeks have been frustrating.
My knee hasn’t been happy, so I’ve had to adapt my training. Instead of trying to push through the pain or stopping completely, I’ve focused on what my body can do.
That’s why I’ve added a turbo trainer to my setup.
Combined with my rehab strength programme, it allows me to build my fitness while giving my knee the best chance to recover.
This is exactly how I coach my clients.
Whether you’re dealing with an injury, aching joints, or simply don’t know where to start, the answer is rarely to do nothing. It’s about finding the right exercises, the right level of challenge, and a plan that works for your body.
Too many people think pain means the end of exercise.
I believe it means it’s time to train smarter.
That’s how you stay consistent.
That’s how you keep making progress.
And that’s how you come back stronger than before.
If you’ve been putting off the gym because something hurts, let’s have a conversation. There is usually a way forward, you just need the right plan.
Two squats. One small adjustment. A much better position to train from.
In the before clip, the feet are flat on the floor. As they squat, you can see the heels tip and the ankle line drift inward.
Rather than repeatedly cueing the same movement, I changed the setup and introduced a small heel lift.
This reduced the ankle range required and immediately gave a steadier, more controlled position.
Is it a magic fix? No—and it doesn’t prove the ankles are the only factor.
It gives us a better position to train from while we continue working on ankle mobility, foot control and strength.
That’s the difference good coaching can make:
Notice what’s happening.
Make the right adjustment.
Strengthen the improved position.
Work towards the longer-term solution.
If exercises often feel awkward, unstable or uncomfortable, you may not need to avoid them—you may just need the right starting point.

Another member of the 100kg club 🙌
Liv’s 100kg deadlift is a brilliant achievement but my job isn’t simply to make people lift heavier weights.
The goal is to help people build a body they can rely on.
One that feels strong in everyday life.
Can train consistently without constantly breaking down.
Is less restricted by old injuries, aches and pains.
And doesn’t leave them feeling beaten up after every session.
Liv came to me struggling with motivation and feeling like her strength had dropped off.
Now she’s moving better, feeling more confident, enjoying training again and deadlifting 100kg.
The number matters because of what it represents:
A clear plan.
Gradual progression.
Consistency when motivation dips.
And the accountability to keep showing up.
Not everyone needs or wants to deadlift 100kg.
But everyone deserves to feel strong, capable and confident in what their body can do.
That’s what good strength coaching should provide.
If you’re 35+ and want to get stronger, move with less pain and stop second-guessing your training, book a complimentary consultation through the link in my bio or drop me a message.
Liv came to me lacking motivation, struggling to train and feeling like her strength had dropped off.
That’s where a lot of people get stuck.
Not because they don’t care, but because they’ve lost structure, momentum and accountability.
Now she’s moving better, feeling more confident and actually looking forward to training again.
That’s what good coaching should do.
Strength isn’t just about lifting more. It’s about showing up, building momentum and proving to yourself that you can keep going when motivation dips.
If you want real progress, you need more than good intentions.
You need a plan, consistency and accountability.
Over 35 and feel like you keep starting over with fitness?
You’re not the only one.
A lot of people don’t struggle because they don’t care.
They struggle because they’re not sure what to focus on first.
Is it strength?
Mobility?
Consistency?
Nutrition?
Recovery?
Old aches or injuries?
And if you’re solving the wrong problem, progress is always going to feel harder than it needs to.
That’s why I’ve created the free 35+ Strength Reset Scorecard.
It takes 5 minutes and helps you work out what’s actually holding you back, so you can stop guessing and start with a clearer plan.
No random workout.
No extreme diet.
No “start again Monday” nonsense.
Just a simple way to find your starting point.

Lisa joined the 100kg club today.
When Lisa started, the goal wasn’t just “lift more weight”.
She’s a rower who wants to be more competitive, but she’d also been dealing with aches, pains and a knee issue that needed looking after properly.
So we had to
Build strength.
Improve control.
Protect the knee.
Get her body more capable of handling training.
And today she pulled 100kg.
This is why strength training matters.
Not because everyone needs to chase numbers forever, but because getting stronger gives you more options.
More confidence.
More resilience.
More performance.
Less feeling like your body is holding you back.
Massive well done Lisa 🙌🙌🙌

A lot of people over 35 think they need more cardio to get fitter, lose weight or feel better.
And yes, cardio matters.
But strength training is the bit that helps you keep hold of muscle, move better, protect your joints and feel more capable in everyday life.
The best plan isn’t choosing between strength and cardio.
It’s building both into your week in a way you can actually stick to.
Strong first. Fit alongside it.
If you’re over 35 and want to feel stronger, move better and stop restarting every few months, drop me a message or book a complimentary consultation through the link in my bio.
Squats are more than building show off quads.
They’re one of the most important movements we do every single day.
Getting on and off the sofa.
Using the toilet.
Picking something up from the floor.
Getting in and out of the car.
Playing with your children or grandchildren.
The ability to squat well is closely linked to strength, balance, mobility and independence as we get older.
When Mike first started training, movement was uncomfortable and confidence was low. Now he’s moving well, feeling stronger and building the strength he needs to keep doing the things he enjoys outside of the gym.
You don’t need to be squatting massive weights.
You just need enough strength and mobility to make everyday life easier.
That’s what training should be about.
Building a stronger, more capable body that supports you for the long term.
