Well another Wimbledon is over. What will be your memories, good or bad of the tournament? Will it be the "Fery-tale" run to the semi-finals? The Czech mates no more, of Noskova v Muchova? The very poor performance of British players in the singles (Fery aside)? The overhype and underperformance of Serena's comeback?
Let me know!

Disastrous start for British Tennis at Wimbledon. Here’s my take on it.
I think most of the discussions about British tennis start at the wrong point. We’ve never been a strong tennis nation since the Open Era. Only Jones, Wade, Barker amd Raducanu have won women’s GS titles in nearly 60 years. Even worse on the men’s with only Andy Murray.
The LTA get a huge amount of money from the proceeds of Wimbledon but what have they achieved? More tennis courts? More players? Better performance players?
I would argue that the answer
Is no and the much published increase in players is solely due to better data capture.
One think I would recommend is to remove the LTA from performance tennis. Perhaps give grants to promising players to help them with costs but no direct involvement. Why? Because it’s a failed model, private academies are the factories for performance players. Even the USTA have backtracked after trying to wrest control from successful academies.
The LTA seem to be both omnipresent and impotent all at the same time. Take padel for example. A fun worthy alternative game but they had a much cheaper accessible alternative in touchtennis, which was invented by a Brit too. But call me a cynic, but there’s lots of people who are making lots of money from padel construction.
So in short. Get out of performance. Build more courts. Maintain the ones we have. Get touchtennis into schools. Start with that.
