This year’s East Summer School was such a powerful reminder of what can happen when young people are given the space to try something new, build confidence, connect with others and explore what’s possible for their future. 💜

As part of the programme , we delivered our Summer Roller Skate Academy at , creating a fun and supportive environment for young people to develop new skills, challenge themselves and grow both on and off skates.

Alongside this, we programmed our Creative Career Labs in collaboration with , giving participants the chance to explore their strengths, interests and future pathways. A huge thank you as well to in for providing the space for those sessions and helping us create a brilliant learning environment.

It was great to be part of a wider East Summer School programme bringing together so many partners, practitioners and organisations around one shared goal: creating meaningful opportunities and better outcomes for young people.

This summer, we’ve had the opportunity to work with young people through a series of roller skating workshops for East Summer School hosted at at 🛼💜

And every session reminds us why skating can be such a powerful tool for youth engagement

It naturally brings people together. Young people encourage each other, share skills, make new connections and celebrate each other’s progress, often without being prompted

It also teaches resilience. You fall. You get back up. You try again. And slowly, something that once felt impossible becomes possible

Beyond learning how to skate, these workshops create space for confidence, connection, perseverance and belonging to grow

For us, that’s what empowering the next generation through roller skating looks like. 💜

Nothing but good vibes at our Roll & Groove Workshop with Tissy () from .fun.dance brought skaters together for a session full of rhythm, movement and good vibes 🔥

Tissy guided the group through routines step-by-step, helping everyone explore rhythm, musicality, flow and self-expression while building confidence on skates

It was a space to learn, practise, connect and simply enjoy moving together.

And this was the energy by the end of the workshop 🔥 😂

Over the past few months, skaters stepped into a motion capture studio, wore suits that tracked their movement, and began experimenting with what it means to take skating to new levels.
